The Atheist Obsession with Insulting Christians

Maybe if certain Christians weren't smug and/or judgmental assholes, they'd get a warmer response by those who don't believe in the same thing. Nothing raises my hackles more than people who condescendingly present a flawed argument, outright ignore the myriad of exceptions given to it, and then simply repackage it as though changing the style in which it was presented, in conjunction with repetition, somehow bolsters the argument itself. All while trying to convince people that this particular god and its religion is moral when the religion's own handbook presents it as anything but.

Keep in mind, I'm referring to all apologists and their ilk, not just Randy. At some point, the game becomes old and a spade must be called a spade.

Where are the Christians ? Can any of the posers we get here lay hands on the sick and heal them ? Can any of them drink poison and live ? Can any of them handle deadly serpents and survive ?

I dare say there has never been a Christian insulted here because we've never had one show up.

They claim the world is 6000 years old, and want to push that into classrooms. It's something we want to prevent the encroachment of. Yup.  And I think the Patton Oswalt meme on the first page ties into that.  Christians keep trying to push this backwards shit into our society by hiding behind the idea that all opinions/beliefs must be respected and represented 'equally'.  It's the kind of binary thinking BS that has killed critical thinking, at least in America.  "All sides" don't have to be treated with kid gloves, nor do bullshit ideas need to be presented as an equally valid alternative to mainstream ideas.

In short, like he says, beliefs don't need to be respected.  And hopefully more people will understand this.

I'm perfectly polite to theists who are not condescending shitheads, raving lunatics, fundamentalist fuckwits or enthusiastic bigots. On this forum, that tallies up to Catholic_Lady and lkingpinl, off the top of my head.

In real life, that's pretty much every theist I meet. But this is the internet - the gloves are off, and the type of theist this forum attracts is usually of the kinds listed above. Usually.

And I was quite polite in my first engagement with Randy, before he crapped into his own hand and flung it in my face. Since then, I've seen him for the blistering cuntoid that he is.

Oh, and there are multiple atheists on here that I would scarcely piss on if they were on fire. It's ultimately not down to beliefs with me, it's down to whether or not you're a dick.

So no, I do not get angry most of the time. The only times I've actually been genuinely pissed off at something posted here has been warranted in my view, and yes, I do reflexively reply at times. But eh, at least I use my anger semi-constructively rather than dismember people. I'll take a million enraged words over that.

Randy does make a valid point though. Let's not pretend there isn't a bit of a double standard here. Not everyone does this, of course, there are plenty of super nice/sensible people on AF. But it does happen.

There is a reason Randy doesn't get the good treatment you (usually) do.  While I know you have felt attacked at times, I think you'd agree that probably the vast majority here appreciate how you are as a person and how you treat others.  Randy isn't much like you.  He doesn't accept others for who they are, he judges and pushes others to accept his opinions.  You don't do that.

Keep in mind also that not everyone carries around the same amount of baggage from rejection by people by their family and community for giving up religious beliefs.  The impulse to strike back can easily be elicited by theists who are overbearing or judgmental.
