Makes no difference to me as I'm not in a gun nut country, i was just pointing out that using "a criminal would get a gun anyway" argument is irrelevant.

Legal vs illegal bought guns is a bullshit argument. Year after year the stats constantly show that injury or death are in the home/neighborhood and caused between someone the person is familiar with, from BOTH legal and illegal guns. I wish your country would spread some of that sanity and pragmatism here. Nobody wants a fascist state for merely wanting to do things differently. But America is stuck with an unhealthy obsessive attitude and the industry loves that fear because it keeps profits up. Yes they do, a guy locally where I lived was caught with 7,000 guns. Him stealing them still means that the volume of guns is problematic. You cant simply say "I wouldn't do that" or "don't blame responsible gun owners" ...... He got all those guns because of the volume of opportunity to get them. In a utopia if we didn't have the amount of gun death, or even gun theft, nobody would be complaining. But it is a problem both legal and illegal. It is ultimately a volume issue and ease of access issue. Except that the people who carried this out are (or were) criminals. I can't imagine they'd be like, "oh! We can't get a legal guns? Darn it! I guess we won't try to pull off that mass shooting. Bummer. We were so looking forward to that!"
Nolite te bastardes carborundorum.
Sorry but you are suggesting that we continue to serve them up on a silver platter and the result is the continuing carnage.

Then parroting NRA bullshit about how only criminals have guns is not helpful.
Our precious "lawmakers" have to stop pandering to the right-wing lunatic fringe and start acting. Obviously, there is no one step that will solve the problem but that is no excuse to sit around with our thumbs up our asses while the body count rises. |
