No, they don't. LoL, HoN, HoS and a lot of other stand-alone battle-arena type games(virtually all, in fact) stem from the original mod in Warcraft III "DotA" which I play and have played far before these came out.

It's an incredibly complex game and it takes years to practice even though it's just a map of warcraft and it practically never changes, except when new versions of the same map come out for balance issues, adding items, heroes, fixing bugs, and other such things. It's more like a sport than anything else in gaming. In dota2 they already make millions of dollars playing this game.

Yeah that's what I heard, that LoL was influenced by DotA. I am aware DotA was by far the oldest. Warcraft III is a very old game now.
Although my favorite game is older, it's 16 (almost 17) years old now: And yet it has recently had two new official expansion packs, and many many people play it online

Yes.
I am so terribly excited to get the new HD version of AoE2 and the two new official expansion packs. Many, many, many people play it on Steam, and there are tournaments for money, and the original came out in 1999 
I always knew AoE2 wouldn't die easily, and AoE3 is pretty much dead. I always knew it was a fucking legendary game.

I know it's old but don't let that fool you. Except for the fact that Dota2 allows for better graphics and usage of the mechanics of the game and thus for slightly better gameplay, the complexity of the game is exactly the same. It's a ridiculously hard game to master and that's why an insane amount of people upon playing the game for the first time quit trying to understand it and go play LoL or some other game meant more for the general public. Think of it like the holy grail of competitive gaming. You don't really get good at it if you don't intend to put a lot of time and effort into it. Also you have to be extremely strategic by nature. A lot of things go into it at the same time, like teamwork, good reaction-time, thinking on your feet, being good at handling pressure(this one is a must), planning(if you pick the wrong heroes for your team out of a pool of more than a hundred heroes you lost the game before you even started playing), etc.
