I'm not well educated in evolution but if we really did evolve from basic elements through millions of years of evolution, then according to that logic there should be intelligent beings in any other planet that is as old as earth. Can anyone tell me why there isn't?

There are intelligent beings in other planets as old as the earth. Undoubtably, IMO.
The universe is fucking massive we can't be the only ones.
I reckon there's many, many, many of them. It's just the vast majority of the universe is lifeless and most of the life that does exist is unintelligent and simplistic, but the universe is so huge that there still will be many, many, many intelligent life on other planets. And yet we may never ever come into contact with any of them because the universe is so vast and expansive that the distances between these planets may be so great that even lightspeed travel wouldn't realistically get there.

We don't know that; but even if we did, you're trying to shift the burden of proof.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I'm no expert, but here's my dollop:
It's not just a matter of how old a planet it, it's about the conditions on that planet. However, I believe a huge number of planets with an environment somewhat similar to ours have been detected. Although it's speculation at this point, there may well be life on some of them. Or maybe there has been in the past. The universe is huge and we can barely check out our own tiny section properly to scan it for life. If I had to bet, I would put money on life having occured elsewhere, at some point.
