Would you vote for a Roman Catholic?

RE: Would you vote for a Roman Catholic?
^ Well right, its sin.

Child bearing seems to be the only good use for sex. That is why homosexuality and sex with condom are bad.

There shoulnd't be much passion or fun to it. Just a task to "get over with" and get back to praying.

*giggle*  Really?  I hope you are joking, because otherwise, I feel rather sorry for you, and sorrier for anyone you might have a romantic relationship with.

I know you people go on and on about the dangers of mixing church and state.

Well, if you had a Roman Catholic as president, not only would you have a religious president, but you would have one who is beholden to a foreign power, that of the Pope and the Vatican. There a lot of wonky religions out there, but few require their adherents to pledge alleigance to some man on a marble chair, an allegiance that should supersede allegiance to the red white and blue.

I think it shows Biden's wisdom and prudence that he decided not to run for president. He may not have wanted to compromise his patriotism.

Although that could be  because Mrs. Bubba is too formidable of a candidate for anyone to beat.

I fear that electing JFK as president set a terrible precedent.

Thoughts? Opinions?

If they were like Obama sure, but if they were a right wing 1% corporate whore anti choice  Catholic, fuck no.

You cannot prevent religious people in the west from making an attempt to get votes to hold public office. Both JFK and later John Kerry used the phrase which is consistent with "No religious test" in the oath of office, and that phrase was "I will not use my article of faith to legislate"

I doubt when Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison swore on a Koran once owned by Thomas Jefferson said "When I get into office I am going to institutionalize Sharia Law".

This is such a stupid question.

Obama is a Christian, so was John McCain, and so ways Mitt Romney(Mormon is still a sect of Christianity)

I'd also have the same attitude if Trump or Cruz and Hillary were all avowed atheists. I don't vote based on which sect of religion anyone holds, I vote on what they are going to do to make my life more stable. The GOP is the party of big oil and Walmart. Democrats are the party for the workers.

I vote my wallet, if you keep your religion out of it, your personal beliefs I don't give a shit about.

Um no, JFK never bowed to the Pope's demands anymore than Obama did in his visit.

Oh and when the Prior pope shot of his mouth about whom we should elect here because of abortion during Kerry's run against Bush, even some centrist republicans were saying "Fuck off, you don't live here".

It scared me more that Netenyahu held a speech in front of congress as if he were president or as if Israel were the 51rst state. And yes, I didnt like the Pope giving a speech to congress either, but that was simply ceremonial, not that I like that either.

The problem with that is sex is hardwired into us. It is the most fundamental part of being a species, since if sex wasn't fun we wouldn't be propagating nearly as much. If your god has an issue with it, then he's a douche who needs to get over himself. If you don't understand why heavily restricting sex is wrong, then you have a grave misunderstanding of people.

It is sick that someone sold you that bullshit.

Outside that sexist comic book of yours, evolutionary biologists, psychologists, psychiatrists and doctors know that having a baby is NOT the only reason humans have sex.

Sex does contain risk of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease. You stupidly think that only happens with the unwed or gays. Heterosexuals CAN spread sexually transmitted diseases while married, and even without having an affair. You can get STDs depending on the type from a glass you share with someone who has one,  or toilet seat if not properly clean if you use it right after someone who has one. And married couples also have affairs too get one, and bring it home to their partner.

STDs are NOT strictly unwed or LGBT.  And LGBT are also capable of being monogamous. And there are married heterosexuals who have no desire to have kids.

If you EDUCATE people on the risks they can take measures to reduce those risks with CONDOMS.

Sex isn't just about making babies that is a load of crap. Sex is how we socialize and bond as a species.

Personally, I hope you're Poe'ing, or you get counseling.

I would support members of any faith tradition if I agreed with their politics.

Yes and no.

Yes if they have a westernized open society and social stability mindset. But even with liberal theists, as much as I love their empathy, I still say that religion poisons politics and politicians use it to divide society, much moreso with the right wing.

The word "religion" itself is problematic as a human invented construct. As much good humans worldwide claim their religion does, the downside even liberal theists don't want to face, is that the violent and bigoted believers still are reading the exact same books with the exact same words to justify their cruelty.

Yes I will vote for a believer as long as they aren't using their religion to produce common law.

I would to. Mormons are nearly as bad as Catholics.

It's clear JFK's many lady friends were just confused or misguided.

Perhaps they didn't have the benefit of attending reform school when younger, and maybe having to spin wool or do laundry as penance for sins of flesh, or as a means of preventing such future sins.

I still want to know about the Babylon Whore...  What is that?

One would think in this day and information age that we would have atheist presidents.  Alike I was reading this morning about Lemmy and Ozzy tweets "I'll see you on the other side" of all people one would think Ozzy would be an atheist.  Doesn't he hang out with Marilyn Manson?  And with all that money surely he can afford some really cool books.  Not to mention how one has to be a millionaire to run for President, they have no reason not to find the truth.  I think it is down right dangerous to have presidents getting tarot card readings or astrology ciphering like is said of the Reagans' or ole Bush 2 hearing God talk to him...  Next we'll be having the LSD elders making decisions.  Bet if ole Trump wins we have gambling everywhere sucking the ignorant indigents down to their last $.  It will be like Biff's World on Back to the Future. Or, everyone will give up and go for Bush 3 AAAHHH!!!!  Some scary times they are.
