TC, let me put it to you this way: why should I be more worried about a Catholic and his/her supposed allegiance to the Vatican than I would be a Protestant with his/her slavish allegiance to a book and its interpretation? Are you more worried about a Catholic than a Baptist or a Pentecostal end-times fanatic? Or a Mormon? How would you feel about an Orthodox Jew for President? There'd be no danger of that candidate kowtowing to Rome.

As long as a candidate supports secular government in word and deed, I don't really care what nonsense they may privately believe so long as they respect reason and evidence on questions of public policy. Of course, I'd like to have a chance to vote for a President who doesn't believe any of this religious horseshit, but this is America and I have to temper my hopes with reality.

JFK didn't seem to let too much of his Catholicism get in the way of his presidency.

And to be honest, most of the Catholics I've met are easier going than the various flavors of Protestants I've met in the South.

Thats because they worship the Whore of Babylon and are willing to compromise with the changing times rather than obey the Word of God.

Fortunately the RCC does condemn contraception. It teaches that one sins twice if a person fornicates with a condom. The fornication might be bad, but the contracpetion is even worse.

Not surprisingly, few Roman Catholics follow this teaching which means that in their religion, they will be tortured in Hell. Forever.

Using Biden as an example - yep, he's Catholic, but so far, I haven't seen pushing the Catholic pro-life agenda.  Whatever else I may think of his politics, the man knows how to keep his religion separate from his job, and I can respect that.  The current crop of GOP asshats?  Not at all.

Biden currently doesn't push a Catholic pro-life agenda, but it would appear that wasn't always the case. Apparently his Senate record says otherwise:

Not to say that I wouldn't vote for a Catholic or even today's Biden; but one certainly doesn't have to be a fundamentalist for his or her personal religious beliefs (ANY) to affect how they attempt to shape public policy.

As to whether I would vote for a Roman Catholic, it would depend on which Catholic was in the offing.

As for JFK, any man who could bone Marilyn Monroe and get away with it gains hero status in my eye.
