Thank you to the people that have actually contributed instead of just trying to "call me out" without having anything constructive to say. I would like to point out tho that I never once said that I believe in this theory to be 100 percent fact, nor did I say that I believe it to be fact that aliens have came to earth. Again, all I ever said that I believe is that aliens exist, whether they be a more advanced life form than us, a lesser life form, or even a single cell organism, I just find it very difficult to believe that we live on the only planet with life form. And until we have explored the entire universe and find no other life forms, I will continue to believe aliens exist. As far as the Ancient Astronaut Theory, I never said it is fact, you know honestly, it's just as fucking crazy as the idea of "gods", but it puts the origins of gods into a different perspective that I view. I was never trying to start this thread as a lets call each other out and belittle one another. I was just simply trying to start a thread on a subject that interests me.

So again, thank you to the people who contributed, the other people that just wanna sit there and try to "call me out", fuck you, you have nothing to contribute.

In just a year of peering out at a small slice of the galaxy, the Kepler telescope has spotted 1,235 possible planets outside our solar system. Amazingly, 54 of them are seemingly in the zone that could be hospitable to life - that is, not too hot or too cold, Kepler chief scientist William Borucki said.

Until now, only two planets outside our solar system were even thought to be in the "Goldilocks zone." And both those discoveries are highly disputed.

Fifty-four possibilities is "an enormous amount, an inconceivable amount," Borucki said. "It's amazing to see this huge number because up to now, we've had zero."

Looks as if earth is less special than the shitwits think!

Indeed. Scientists haves detected the planet using a telescope? Doesn't that mean they've actually only detected the light reflected by the planet? How do they know it still exists? (I'm assuming the probability is high)

I ask because if such a planet had a species as stupidly self destructive as we, they may well have blown up their planet or made themselves extinct in some other creative way.

Actually, most planets are detected indirectly, by the influence of the planet's gravity on the parent star. Only a few were seen by direct observation, not by reflected light of it's parent sun, but by the light of the parent sun that the planet blocked as it passes in front of it's parent sun.

Btw, I think you overestimate our self destructive potentials. Even all out nuclear war or the worst imaginable environmental catastrophe will not exterminate homo sapiens, but would instead leave enough survivors to mount another try. Even if we are literally reduced to the stone age without even recollection of our previous mastery of natural sciences and technology, it seems likely that it would take but 10,000 years or so for us to be building nuclear weapons again.

It's not a theory; it's a hypothesis with no hard evidence.

Do the research before starting a discussion.

But I do believe tho that they are unexplainable wonders of our world that were not created by man alone, and there is proof to that. Take the Great Pyramids for example.
