I don't know as much about the Japanese war as I do about Europe. In Europe, the US airforce was less indiscriminate as the British. Harris' outspoken goal was to unleash terror on civilians. The American goal was precision bombing, whatever that meant with the equipment they had back then. Yes, the participated in the bombing of Dresden, but they weren't the ones working on the firestorm, which killed most of the civilians. That again was a british recipe.
Well I suggest you read up on the Pacific theater and the US involvement. Nothing the US did in Vietnam compares. Clearly there were more war crimes, more intentional killings of civilians, more rape, more mutilation. Everything that people put on Vietnam happened far more in WWII.
Also the US dropped incendiary bombs on Dresden along with the British and in fact dropped almost twice the tonnage of bombs on the city as the British. I don't think the US gets any pass at all for Dresden. They firebombed the city with the intention of killing as many civilians as possible, same as the British.

Dresden was a horrific thing that really shouldn't have happened. It was nothing short of using terror to scare the german people. And the follow up actions (such as the aforementioned strafing of civilians) were just as bad.

As for America playing the militaristic bully - we learned that from the British. So now the teacher is hiding behind his former pupil?
Yeah pretty much to all of this.

Because one group of people being bad means everyone should be bad. Sound logic right there

I think the difference was in part racism. The Japanese weren't white. The Japanese were also racist. The Japanese rules of engagement were more brutal than those in Europe. It was a nastier war in the Pacific, on both sides.

The pacific did suck pretty bad, but then again, the Eastern front was also pretty horrific at times. I don't think that either one can really be considered worse than the other, because in the end, a lot of people died in both Europe and the Pacific.

I wouldn't think so. Apart from shooting POWs, which every side did, the only thing coming to mind would be the bomb. Their bombing raids, as opposed to the british, were at least aimed at the industry. The outspoken british strategy was to bomb the workers.
So, no, I wouldn't think the US did worse than in Vietnam.
That American firebombing of Japan, while ostensibly aimed at industry, had the same goal of damaging Japanese morale and dehousing Japanese workers as the RAF's European campaign. The fact that XX Bomber Command was dropping unfinned M69s into a target area defined as a 1.5 mile square speaks to the desired level of accuracy in the raids once LeMay assumed command of that unit.
And even the 8th AF's operations over Europe in some instances could be argued as war crimes -- the combined attacks on both Hamburg and Dresden, while having nominal military justification, were also specifically designed to ignite firestorms -- which by their very nature are indiscriminate.
