Some are never satisfied, with anything that doesn't fit into their own little preconcieved world....
You'd have to provide something satisfying. Some of us actually care about objective evidence. Amazingly, theists have none of that. Go figure.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.

You may have heard of this in psychology circles too. They call it "Confirmation bias".
Seek, and you will find what you were looking for, regardless of whether the facts actually fit it.
That fit's the story of evolution to a tee.

Really, why is this such a problem for some?
Because it doesn't fit their pre-conceived notions or their canned arguments.

Well; I can't help what others find satisfying or persuasive. All I can do is provide the reasons for why I believe and why I think they are logical and rational. I can test the arguments both for and against, to see if the worldview is consistent. I can look at the world around me, and see which view fits the objective evidence better.

It doesn't matter why you believe, it matters what evidence you can prove that shows that what you believe is factually true. It doesn't matter if you think something is logical and rational, only if it actually is. It only matters if it fits the definition of logic and reason. All the wishful thinking in the world, all of the blind faith, none of that means a damn thing. It only matters what evidence you can bring to the table.

Because it doesn't fit their pre-conceived notions or their canned arguments.
Religions consist not only of the beliefs of their adherents but also include a number of stereotypic behaviors and reactions such as:
Confirmation bias
Willful ignorance
Pure bull headed stubbornness in the face of overwhelming evidence (faith and denial)
Banning iconoclasts or non-conformists from their society, gatherings or fora.
Proselytizing and recruitment.
These serve to enforce and preserve the religion as a persistent pattern of information over time subject to evolution by natural selection.
The successful ones grow and colonize new minds. The failures fade away..... Anyone on the board worship Zoroaster? anyone?
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?

The only evidence for god is man's propensity toward imagination.

It doesn't matter how liberal they say they are in their theology, eventually it comes down to blind faith. That is not an acceptable answer.
You'll never get answers from anyone cloistered in the religious bubble, even less so the higher up the religious food chain you go. You'll get rationalisations, hypothetical moral traps and smokescreen redirects to what Jesus-flavoured deepity they can remember, but no actual answers. The religious world is nothing more than an echo chamber, a positive feedback circuit for confirming and reconfirming the happy little stories in their book, and defending them against the lie of inconvenient reality.
There are no discoveries in religion, no investigation or research. There are only interpretations pronounced centuries ago by people who didn't have any better arguments or justification for them than any idiot with a bible, a webcam and a youtube account. As Colonel Ingersoll put it back in 1898: "The old lady who said there must be a devil, else how could they make pictures that looked exactly like him, reasoned like a trained theologian -like a doctor of divinity."
Some people are okay with that. Others prefer something with a little more substance than none at all.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Only in your willfully ignorant little mind.
There is so much in evolution that doesn't fit, scientist argue about the supposed facts all the time.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
