Sounds like the trinity to me.

Hero always earns ego.
It can actually be read so, although I wouldn't think that on my first guess. 
Anyways, the answer is "The Hero always Earns the Price". 
Your answer was decent, but what if the Hero is a Surgeon that saves a Child instead of a Politician and gets fired for it? There are more examples. 
The Hero doesn't win a Prize, the Hero pays the price.
