If you vote for Clinton while there's a chance to nominate Sanders, you didn't try to stop it.

Help me confirm or deny some stuff about Hilary Clinton please

I voted for Clinton in the Arizona primary. I see the same problem with Sanders that I do with Drumpf...minus the boorish behavior, Bernie is basically a gentleman. Bernie's platform, like Drumpf's is designed to tickle the nutsacks of his supporters. It has no chance of surviving contact with Congress. 8 years from now we'll be hearing all about how Sanders "failed" to enact free college just like Obama "failed" to close Gitmo...despite submitting 7 plans to do exactly that to this do-nothing congress.

I can't say I asked for any of the shit that emerges from the next presidential candidate if I never voted for them. Right. It's not as if all 12 of my state's electoral votes aren't going to go to whatever Democrat gets the nomination - by close to a 2:1 margin - regardless of who it is. Oh wait, yes it is. If those 12 electoral votes were put at risk by myself not voting for Clinton, I'd vote for her. They aren't. I won't. RE: Help me confirm or deny some stuff about Hilary Clinton please

You could also say, when any of that shit happens, "I didn't try to stop it..." I mean, listen, I get the whole "one vote thing." I was just trying to say that conceptualizing voting or not voting as a broader statement cuts both ways. One can not vote for anyone and say "I didn't ask for any of this", and someone can say "well, you didn't try to stop it either." One can vote and say "I did my part to try to stop the other guy's shit," and someone can say "so, you mean you asked for all this shit?" I'm of the "voting is a civic duty" bent myself, but that's just a personal opinion. I didn't mean to put down anyone who doesn't vote, regardless of the reason; rather, I just meant to say, essentially, that not voting because you don't want to feel complicit in getting HDawg elected and then conceptualizing it positively is, I don't know... it rings hollow to me, especially when I feel that it's clear that, however much one feels "Ideal Candidate" >>>> "Bernie Sanders" >>>> "Hillary Clinton", that person should also feel "Hillary Clinton" >>>> "whoever the republican nominee is". I'll be voting for that last >>>>, thankyouverymuch.

Don't worry, my friend. If this be the end, then so shall it be.
If the race between Clinton and Trump is close here in Texas I will vote for Clinton, because Trump would be a massive disaster for our country in several different ways.
If the race is not close, I will stay with Gary Johnson. (April 4, 2016 at 1:31 pm)TheRealJoeFish Wrote:(April 4, 2016 at 1:22 pm)Cthulhu Dreaming Wrote: Right. I don't disagree that Clinton is a better candidate than whoever comes out of the GOP clown car. As long as it remains true that my state is a safe blue state, I have the luxury of being able to vote my conscience (or not), and I'll not vote for the least bad lizard no matter who it happens to be. In addition, I'm increasingly feeling that the US election system is fundamentally broken, and I'm perfectly happy to deny lending it legitimacy with my personal participation.
It won't be close in Texas, no matter how close it is nationally.
It won't be close in Kentucky, either. That's why I feel no need to vote for a candidate who will get more done with the Republican congress out of a much higher level of shared interest. I'd rather a candidate who doesn't fulfill promises because they tried their hardest and couldn't do it, rather than one who doesn't fulfill promises because the promises were never sincere. In 2014 fewer than 37% bothered to vote.
You make a good point. |
