Great idea.... "National Day of Reason".......
|
Jesus said that his believers should do their whining in private instead of making a public display of their repetitive blabbing asking an imaginary entity for a better deal. None of the whiners who participate in the National Day of Prayer must be real Christians.
nice idea, but maybe something with a little more dentition in the future would be possible;
Make a religiousite explain their shit day. Start off easy, confront a Mormon about the Book of Mormon forbidding polygamy. Come on their Mr. Brethren, explain that one, and we've got 5000 more. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
Given the spate of US 'religious freedom' laws referenced on the boards of late, I suspect that anyone celebrating a 'National Day Of Reason' is likely to be set on fire by someone who isn't.

I'd like to see something labelled a 'Religious Freedom' law that prohibits the guvmint from recognizing divorce/remarriage for individuals entering into an 'overtly' Christian first marriage.
Maybe add a clause allowing Methodists to gamble all they want at casinos, but tax their winnings at 100%, and no deduction for losses [snicker]. While we're at it, let's start fucking with the baptists for wearing mixed fabric clothing and having garden plots with more than one kind of seed too. Maybe we could hire away some of those 'defanged' Saudi religious police? I bet they really don't care what rules they get to enforce, as long as they get to be assholes about enforcing them. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

It needs to be completely not motivated by religion on what day it's on. But motivated by a day where a great scientific breakthrough was made or a momentous milestone was made culturally through reason. I prefer the latter, but I cannot think of such a day than something stupid like Richard Dawkins day or something since he's the only one that pushed atheist culture. Or a good date for the national day of reason can be is when Darwin got the origin of species published or something......since that did indirectly influence much culture in the years to follow...... Anyone familiar with Scopes monkey trials? That was very cultural. The guy had balls to stand up to all those religious nuts and judges and all that to defend the teaching of evolution in public school.
Note:
Scopes was found guilty (but verdict was overturned because of legal error). The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
I would want America to gain a Day of Science or Mathematics first.
You know, like what India has. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Science_Day https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National...matics_Day You know, maybe we should start valuing subjects such as this rather than something that can be as abstracted as "reason".
I too think it's a great idea. If people truly applied reason to experience they would believe in God.
