Pretty close to worshipping gods, actually. I meddled with wiccans for a while and they had some kind of religion. Although it was rather nature being the superior force, and us, being part of nature, being part of the divine ourselves. Same as every animal or even a stone, for that matter. I liked them. Still do, since they're not exclusive. Which can't be said about any scripted religion.

Atheism biggest flaw is that it says that human lifes is nothing more then illusion because of its temporary nature and all you can do is smile while enjoy your life and then - dissappear.

No wonder that many people go as far as divert all their resources otherwise spend on good life and instead put themselves in miserable life style(praying, donating, working hard) but with hope of good afterlife.

Yes, purple, that's an observation. People fear death and welcome any sort of comfort to drive away their fears. Us atheists sidestep that basic fear by thinking we're smarter than we really are and in so doing developing a false sense of indestructibility. Life sucks(your genitals if you're good at it). Drugs are the answer.

Mental ignore goes a long way towards dealing with certain people on these boards. If I see certain aliases having the last say in any thread, I don't even check what they said, since I automatically assume it wouldn't be worth my time.

A lot of us are apatheists; we don't give much of a fuck whether there is a god or not, besides scientific curiosity. It makes no real difference, especially while we know nothing about it.

Trying to "find god" is a ludicrous concept. No one can even say what it is. We wouldn't know it if we found it.

All supernatural/magical stuff is a good start if it ever will be proven.

Its not like anyone is actively wasting money in science just to find God, nobody will give money for those fairly tales.

I wouldn't be too sure. But aside from wasting money in science to find God, there are people standing in the way of scientific advances because of their belief in God, i.e. stem-cell research. Additionally, they go out of there way to prevent the spread of current advantages given to us by science, such as birth control in countries overrun with AIDS and HPV vaccines in young girls...all because they think they are carrying out divine command. Kind of a bummer, don't you think?

I had noticed Penguin on the board, but had never really paid particular attention to his posts. After actually interacting with him, I think I'll go back to that.
