I usually don't care about introduction threads but I had to ask about the number in your name.
Whats up with the use of 666?
The atheists that I know won't have anything to do with that number ... cause it has a lot of religious meaning.

I'm not saying you shouldn't use it ... I'm truly just curious. Most atheists don't want to be associated with the Devil any more than they do with God.
(again ... just curious, I'm not implying that you are in the wrong)

I was thinking of a name and i thought it would be ironic to put 666 in there, nothing more than the fact i couldnt think of a more meaningful number. was thinking 777 but then why would i want to be the number of perfection? right?

I am Napoleon and am a complete n00b to this forum thing so i dont quite know what to say. I have been an atheist/agnostic ever since I was capable of rational thought, this is mainly because rational thought would never lead me to believe any type of religious scripture or ramblings.

You are not Napoleon... Napoleon was the greatest general/leader to ever grace France. Tall man. Highly doubt you are either so tall or so effective militarily

That being said, you can well claim yourself to be a napoleon. Not unlike how if someone were to name their child 'Aerzia', the child would not be Aerzia, but an aerzia.

I've decided to enter this forum and try to discuss with like minded people about certain aspects of religion, and how to deal with people who want to debate on a variety of topics. As mentioned I really have no idea what i'm doing and am kind of looking at pointers at how to get into some discussions, any help would be appreciated

Out of interest... why did you choose this forum? Did you not like the community at another forum? Were we the first result of your google search? Have you been secretly stalking me from afar for a year?

as for choosing this forum? i've been surfing the net frequently for the past 5 years understanding why so many religions are wrong and that it is impossible to know all the answers to the universe. this has lead me to become a pretty strong atheist, so i thought why not join an atheist forum, but to be honest so far your not exactly endearing me to continue on here with your 'witty comments'

In my understanding... non belief is what a person has before they are able to rationalise. Belief is a result of a rational process. Otherwise it would be unsustainable. You, no doubt, believe what you do about anything using said process.

and in terms of your question yes you are right. i was rushing to write out my introduction and guess i wrote a bit of absolute bollocks without really knowing what i was saying.

what i meant to say really, is that in my opinion believing in god is irrational, because there is no hard evidence. whereas being an atheist which is a lack of belief is far more so. hope you understand

I don't believe there's a God because there's no hard evidence, and there can be no hard evidence according to Xtianity.

how is that circular logic? there is no evidence whatsoever to prove god exists so believing in god must be irrational.

the opposite then must be true which is to NOT believe in god is far more rational. i didnt say it was correct, that is why i am agnostic as well as an atheist. i am saying that is what i think.
