As compared to other forms of extralegal software distribution schemes , torrenting has the advantage that it's pretty much impossible to stop or block provided the participants are sufficiently motivated.

As a semi-professional performer, I have ethical problems with stealing other people's intellectual property, but if I'm being really honest, I wouldn't torrent even if I didn't have those hang-ups because I am notoriously impatient and lazy. Between learning how to torrent, setting it up, and waiting for downloads...no. Just take my fucking money, already.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

Yeah, I'm more or less at the "take my money already" phase myself. I won't torrent software of any kind because a) my livelihood is in writing software, b) I don't trust that it's not been trojaned, and c) there isn't really that much I need that I can't find an adequate freeware solution for. Other than games, but I only buy a handful of titles a year - the games I really want to play. I have Steam account full of games I haven't gotten to playing yet, I hardly need more.

I do torrent TV shows that I already pay Comcast to pipe into my home because a) fuck commercials, b) fuck Comcast for not letting me bring my own DVR, c) fuck commercials, and d) fuck advertisers who think they are entitled to my eyeballs. I don't have an ethical problem with that, YMMV.

I dunno what a fan boy is lol.

I am just enough of a hardcore gamer to be aware that PCs are superior.

...for some definitions of superior, sure. Not so much for others. Depends entirely upon what criteria you assign, yes?

Computers definitely provide better power, but I like consoles too.  I'd definitely go with a PS4 and a good computer than just a great computer if I had to choose.

Consoles are less expensive. I can't afford a gaming PC but ideally PCs are superior in graphics, control, frames per second, online play, modifiability, everything really.

I wouldn't say that you've enumerated "everything". PCs can certainly excel in those areas - provided you're willing to spend the money. Some I'm not aire are even relevant - like multiplayer, which I personally could not care less about. What I do care about ia grabbing a controller and some comfy chair and playing in my living room, which is one place where consoles win.

Don't get me wrong, I like PC gaming quite a lot but I find myself playing on PC less and less and on console more - and it's not for an inferior experience.
