UK to leave EU

It's my personal family history that doesn't allow for cutting nationalists and right wingers any slack. I may make an exemption for Bella, since she belongs to the LGBT community and will notice at some point in time that she just voted against her own best interests by at least indirectly supporting her sworn enemies.

But there's a reason why I have a very small extended family. And that reason has it's root in the last uprising of right wing messiah figures. We're not there yet, but nationalism and xenophobia are usually only the first steps.

Is there going to be a riot? Do Brits riot? I think there should be a riot.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Scotland would be better off economically without the UK because London and the south east sucks all the wealth out of the rest of the country and then tells the different regions that they can't cope alone. It's like being an abused spouse.

The legislation created by Europe isn't done for the sake of it. Our environment has definitely improved as a result of being part of the EU. Personally I don't want to live in a shit hole to make other people richer.

Some of the legislation is indeed useful, I benefit from a number of them myself but a great deal of it is self serving to the largest European countries in the same way you describe London to the rest of the UK.  I'm also partially in agreement with the environmental legislation but when someone is under the mistaken opinion that reducing the maximum power of a kettle or toaster will make any difference (physics doesn't work like that) I start to wonder who's interests they are promoting.  Then you have the fact they put said legislation on hold until after the vote in case it swayed the tea and toast loving brits to vote leave!

Quote:One senior EU official said that the commission shelved an extension of the EU’s so-called eco-design rules because it was “sensitive to the British obsession with water kettles”. A special unit monitoring British issues — led by the veteran Eurocrat and tea-drinker Jonathan Faull — flagged the charged matter late last year.

Claude Turmes, a Green MEP from Luxembourg who works on eco-design regulation, said he understood the delay was “linked to Brexit”.

I can hardly imagine. Why should there be a riot? This has been a referendum and one side lost. There are demonstrations, of course, but no riots.

I can't have a civilised debate with such people.

I sincerely hope that's a joke.... I used to be able to tell, but now i'm not so sure. Huh

Wait what? Since when belonging to the LGBT community gives one some slack? Is that a thing? Assholes exist in all walks of life and I miss Saerules. At least she put up up a real fight, unlike some others.

Goes to show how divided our societies have become. There's a difference between sitting down for a beer and being on the internet, that's for sure. You can still have some fun while having a beer with people totally disagreeing with your values. Not that easy on the internet, since the discussion inevitably is political or social.

What I wanted to say is, she's young, obviously very into LGBT rights, and will have a chance to realize her mistake. Which I'm pretty sure, she will at some point in time.

Simply belonging to the LGBT community isn't any excuse, if that wasn't clear.

Oh, you haven't met me personally. I am actually very tame on the internet. Tell that to the jailbird that tried jail intimidation on me a few weeks ago. It is just so easy to threat over the internet and words are easy to type. I guess that is why I have little friends on real life. I have little trouble telling them what I think face to face.

Put a good exclamation point on the whole fucked up mess.

Um, what is the EU? What did we Brits just do?
