I think that would be going a bit too far, and it would certainly take the fun out of several threads where posting images is the main theme.
Our members report rule violations often, and our mods are diligent, so I think we'll be able to handle moderation of images without the need for approval.

That is a bit much to task the mods with, but would the forum software permit the addition of a 'mod' tag (instead of a hide tag) that would allow only mods to see the pic, and if not a violation, to remove the tag.
It would also help on occasions when the tag isn't removed that those of us out in the fora would then be getting feed back where the line is, as I am sure 'the line' is going to a be a subject of much behind the scene mod discussion.
I know I went a very long time without posting any pics here, and it seems I really post scads now.
The mod tag is the tag for the moderator notices. Adding mod approval for pictures is ridiculous. But if it came to that I am sure they'd manage no problem. There's eight moderators and five admins.

Just like it's the nature of government to add laws and never repeal them, so too is it the nature of internet forums to add more rules and never get rid of any of the old ones.
There's advertising on all pages for logged out users. Unfortunately we ran the site on donations for several years, and the problem is that people don't just donate a little more money. We've had several large donations in the past that helped the site for a long time, but unfortunately donations these days are rare.
Adding adverts that only appeared for logged out users seemed like a good compromise, because ultimately nobody who joins the site saw them, but they still generated sufficient revenue to pay for the site bills.

Maybe you should do a wikipedia style donation drive once a year? Or make a patreon page. I'd be into something like a patreon page. You could make a thermometer where if so much money is raised, we can tell dirty jokes again.

That's not accurate, at least as far as AF is concerned. We've had plenty of rules that are no longer on the books; just off the top of my head there's the old "no preaching" one, for example. Then there was our Prime Directive, gone the way of all things. Our rules are constantly being revised and updated.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

This may get interesting. For visuals, I'm gonna play it like broadcast US TV. I may end up pushing the envelope verbally, but then I think a lot will.
