I don't mean to sound like a snob or anything like that. I've had refurbished laptops in the past and I'm certainly not rich, but I personally like my technology to be new. Even if it means waiting for a while longer to get it.

Agreed. There's nothing better than opening a brand new shiny gadget.

Ah... me no care about shiny and newsies any more... my laptop's got scuff marks on it but I think that's a more than worthwhile trade for several hundred pounds off the RRP. I used to care about that but now I'm much more practical

There's also the issue of previous user. I don't know what they've done or stored on that device. Uh uh, no thanks. I don't want to perform a whole bunch of hardware tests to see if it's still at spec. Or do a kill disk and reinstall the OS etc. Factory resets don't get rid of shit.
I'm with Bella. If I need something and cannot afford it proper, I'll buy refurbished. If I want something, I'll wait until I can take the screen protector off myself, and break the seal. The smell of new electronics is like sex.

Hell, if I could afford spending 10 times more on something brand new I would. But considering I have 2 whole years to take it back if I have any problems I'm not gonna be paranoid.
In my own experience refurbished is as good as new and less expesnive.
I don't care how the outside of my laptop works as long as it's clean and I can use it I can't afford to pay extra to make it look nice.

If I was rich everything I would buy would be new. Considering I can't even afford to eat as much food as I would like to I think refurbished is pretty awesome!

I asked the company a lot of questions before I bought it, made sure I was satisfied with their testing process and their guarantees... and asked how long they could guarantee the SSD would work. I wasn't too worried about the previous user because they were advertised as business laptops and more robust than the usual ones and that was part of why I wanted it. But I can't imagine there being any problem with an ex-business laptop. But that all said, if you've got the money and you like shiny things, then why not?

I think we all would but none of us are rich here. That's just life, unfortunately. The majority of folk can't afford to go out and blow thousands on a computer. Just got to save as much as you can and be patient.

Anyway in regards to the topic, I personally would give it a miss and use the money on your vacation or something else that you really need. You could always take time to think about it, too and buy it the next time you have money to spend.
If by then you still want it, then go ahead and buy it.

Because as much as I want it, it's hard to justify 800 bucks for something I don't need.
