You ever taken the front off the back of a sheet?  Simple contradiction in terms.  But lets run with it...since, you think, energy and consciousness can become disconnected...wouldn't that explain the death of consciousness...when it becomes disconnected from it's energy?  Conveniently, that's a good rough description for what happens when the body dies.

It wouldn't matter much that energy couldn't be destroyed..or what the now consciousless energy did, because consciousness can be seperated from it, as you've told us.

When you are alive (in your body so to speak) you can chose to neglect what your consciousness suggest to you.
If that goes on for long time the consciousness will stop interfering.
Your new bad habit will take over.
That doesn't mean that the consciousness separate from the energy.
Is still there but not acting so we can say it is disconnected.
When the body die the consciousness carry on in that state you were when alive.
It is only after you reincarnate again and again and you learn how to live properly that the consciousness
goes back to the normal level in which is able to prevail and the balance is restored.

Easy.
Just look at people who get angry and unleash their anger through physical means.
When this happen it always follow the same pattern.
Their consciousness get disconnected from their energy during that time.
You may have noticed that that anger is not their usual way of behaving although in many cases
some people are so used to do the wrong thing that they are angry all the time and therefore are
disconnected from their consciousness 24/7.
Also in nature the status-quo get disconnected time by time like in time of earthquakes, cyclones or
other disaster.
Also in these cases the energy get out of control.
In nature however the law of positive and negative make sure that the balance and stability always prevail but in humans the balance can be lost that is why is so important to keep energy and consciousness in perfect balance.
