Married to how many?

And what is marriage under this definition anyway?

I'm just saying I met far more people when I was single than when I got married.
Single life was fantastic. It's married life that is boring.

Just as an update to my original post:

The chick did end up hooking up with me again. Unfortunately, it was an awkward experience I hope I never have again. Even worse than the first time, she didn't let me do much of anything. Lots of dry humping and didn't really care if I was getting anything out of it. Waste of time. Not a good way to start out.

Anyways, yeah the whole single life vs. married life thing..

Eventually I'll probably marry. It won't make much difference in the relationship, only that it is recognized by the state. As time goes on, I'll probably care less about experiencing the single life. But, as I said previously, not everyone should get married (for those who consider it something "more") or be in monogamous relationships for that matter.

Call us in 20 years and let us know how that worked out.

What I mean is simply that we don't see marriage as limiting. The way we treat each other won't change when we get married. Make sure to read the original post as well because you'll know that we don't think much of monogamy. Marriage is simply a legal declaration for us. There are benefits to it.

Haha... both the partners in a 'monogamous' relationship have equal sexual appetites? Indeed it is rarely the case, the very idea is funny.

It is very much not fair to demand someone else's sexual activities with others not take place if it does not directly affect you (ie: STI).

I am jealous of cats only when they are given attention when I am right there in front of them. While I'm not in the room, there is no jealousy to be had. Same applies to other women. Smile

I actually disagree but I've dated a wide variety of partners, some of whom in retrospect I shouldn't have.

Equal sexual appetites? I'm pretty sure that only occurs for the first week or two.

Exactly. Which is why it usually comes to a shock later on in the marriage when one partner just isn't in the mood any more. I've even heard of some people in sexless marriages where they haven't had sex with their spouse for like around 6 or 7 years. I don't think I could handle that. The thing that's selfish in that kind of situation is one spouse is effectively saying, "I don't want to have sex with you, but you can't have sex with anyone else, either." I think an open relationship would definitely help out there.

I think that monogamy was created out of need back when there were no cures for STD's. I also think that's where the biblical laws and social mores started against having sex with just anyone. People saw STD's as a punishment from God for having sex with someone they believed they weren't supposed to. That's also why virginity was so highly prized back then, and a man could divorce his wife if she weren't a virgin on the wedding day.

If you don't want to have sex with someone, then why save for politics/riches/lands/titles/explosives would you marry them in the first place? 0.o

And I consider your second paragraph a likely case. But there doesn't have to be good reason for moronic behavior Tongue
