Trump could very well be the lesser of 3 evils.
Trump does not have any subtlety about him, he is a shoot from the lip without considering anything, make stuff up on the spot with only a passing relationship with anything resembling the truth kind of guy.
He is demonstrably unsuitable for any position that puts him in charge of anything.
He has a history of abusing power, wandering into young girls changing rooms because he happens to run the competition etc etc ad bloody nauseum.

I'm not making that argument. The mother has desires that ought not to be violated. The mind is what's important. Without conscious experience there's no experience of even physical pain.
ChadWooters Wrote:Making a utilitarian argument with suffering as the sole criteria is problematic. If you apply that reasoning to cases other than abortion the flaw becomes immediately apparent. If suffering is the only criteria then it would be morally permissible for one person to benefit from causing the quick and painless death of another, regardless of age or circumstances.
No because that deprives the person of happiness that they are entitled to.
Quote: Secondly you have applied a double standard. For the fetus, you define suffering only in terms of physical pain and not loss of potential goods. But for the mother, you define suffering in terms of lost opportunities and/or incurring future obligations.
No I haven't I included the possibility of happiness for the fetus in my argument.

Don't be an idiot. It wasn't the word 'pussy' that was problematic. It was the word 'grab' in conjunction with the word 'pussy'.
Yes, but you are ignoring the context - private locker room talk among two close friends. And someone who takes what he said as some kind admission of guilt is the true idiot. Or just using it as a disingenuous excuse to manufacture a sex-scandal based on politically correct denial of human nature. Are you aware that the number one sex fantasy of women is being taken forcefully? Don't be such a prude as to suppose that none of your favorite alpha males on the left are all straight-laced prudes.

"Boys will be boys, and besides, women really want it."
You're really scraping the bottom of the barrel with that one, Chad.
I'd love to see the hissy-fit you'd throw if this had been Bill Clinton saying the exact same thing. Instead, we get you tap-dancing with rape apology.

I'd say the odds of that rise everyday, Trump might be a bitter pill, but in 12 years, he might be looking pretty damn good in 20/20 hindsight compared to the post-Hillary correction that even now maybe we need to start worrying about.
New campaign slogan spotted:

I disagree. I think this is another example of ugly American populism that surfaces from time to time in our history, going back to the early 19th century.

Sure, as if that's the only incident.
Why are you, one so noted here for his philosophical bent and steady Christian faith, so willing to overlook such a deep moral flaw?
And -- if you think that a fantasy indicates that a person wants to experience the fantasy, you're wrong. It may indicate it, in some instances. But if you would please, go and find me three women who have been raped and said afterwards, "My god, that was so fucking hot!"
Before you start calling me a prude, keep in mind that I managed an adult store for six years. I've seen about everything there is to see, and done enough that I'd have to join A69 to even show the tip of the iceberg.

I suppose this illustrates the difference between someone with a genuine philosophical bent and someone with an idée fixe on the scholastics.

A welcome correction. Thanks, Gem.
