Should We Resist Trump?

This was not the time to go purist. No candidate is going to be perfect--it's never happened. No third party hack was going to win this thing--not a hope in hell. You don't go to the track and bet on the three-legged horse in a three horse race because you happen to like the jockey riding it. You know it's a waste of money. 

If you don't take and fight for this very opportunity to change the political and electoral system, you probably never will. You always will be stuck with two parties being more or less in the hands of corporations and block out everyone who's still an idealist.

Just saying. It's kinda obvious. If you don't have big money on your side in America, you don't even stand a chance of being elected for dog catcher. And if you have it, you don't give a shit for the people you're supposed to represent but only for your donors. Money for nothing isn't a reality.

What's obvious is that Donald Trump is President of the United States of America, the most powerful nation on earth. Or, as is said in sports here when the game is over: 

"Scoreboard motherfucker!" 

What that means is that all that matters is who won. 

And maybe if these shitbird third parties would bother to build local movements, then they would have a chance. You know who wasn't on my local and state ballot for anything? Third parties. Not for city council, mayor, congress, senator, NOTHING. All Republicans or Democrats; not a single Libertarian, Green, Peace & Freedom: NADA. Yet these assholes show up every four years, run their mealy mouthed bullshit to baffle the unwise and help get men like George W. Bush and Donald Trump elected. 

They're worse than worthless.

Move your ass and take the streets. Change has never come from within the political system but from a sufficient amount of people demanding it. Regardless if it was civil rights, LGBT rights or any other democratic achievements. Just voting only cements the system. That's not to say one shouldn't vote, but if there's an issue you really stand behind, always look for like minded people to make a statement.

I'm not advocating revolution if that's what you ask. I thought I made that clear already.

The choice in this election was not-Trump. It was either that or predictability, stability, and a Supreme Court that would guarantee everyone's equal, fundamental rights. We have none of that now. 

But hey, I'm not going to be hurt by Trump. I'm a white, hetero, middle-aged male with three white kids, none of whom are or will be in the military. And if things work out the way I hope, his tax cuts are really going to put some significant money in my bank account. I'm not going to lose my health insurance and no one in my family is going to get deported. 

And maybe that's the way I should vote from now on. If people who stand to get hurt by Trump the most can't be bothered to make what should be a thunderously commonsense decision, then why the hell should I care what happens to them?

Third party candidates don't appear on the ballot in every state. So if you want third party, your task is not only to convince people to vote for such a candidate and get the press to give equal coverage and convince delegates to support the candidate, but you still have to convince unwilling states that they HAVE to put the candidate on their ballots. That will bring up the states' rights can of worms and some states will fight it just on principle even if you show them it would be to their benefit.

I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm saying good luck.
