That doesn't make it right for you to preclude me to sign it. I believe this site's "constitution" upholds my right in that sense , if only tangentially, in this case.
How about this: Make every registered voter who casts a vote an Elector. I'm fairly sure I've read that smaller US states have a higher (proportional) voter turn out than larger ones. If this is the case, then a state like Connecticut would have a rough equivalency with a large state like California.
I'm no expert on the US Constitution, but it strikes me that this could be done as a sort of end-run around the amendment process. If I'm wrong, please help me to get my head out of me arse. It smells funny in here. Boru

Yes, you missed the fact that Clinton still won more votes, and the fact that the electoral college is one of the least democratic ways of electing a national president. This is about fixing a broken electoral system where the winner can lose, something which has happened 5 times.
Great Compromise keeps rearing up in my thoughts . . .

I'm glad I can't be drafted due to the last born male clause and I'm not having children. Of course you can sign it! That's fine; if the site organizers wanted to restrict it to US voting residents, they could certainly do that. As for me, I have never signed a petition concerning an issue in another country, but "the more, the merrier," I suppose!!! (November 19, 2016 at 12:34 pm)Rev. Rye Wrote: I signed it. Granted, the Republicans have regained control of the Presidency, Senate, and House and will refuse to accept any change that isn't for the worse, and it won't likely do anything. In Republican America, as in the days of Thucydides, the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must. It's not like they give a shit about the will of the people, except when it coincides with their own agenda. But, hey, at least it's something. I wouldn't be surprised that the republicans' strategy going forward vis a vis the electorate will be to bring back property qualifications (and Sanskrit literacy qualifications for all non whites).
