Trump and Pence are not the only reasons to be sad

Trump and Pence are not the only reasons to be sad
I know a lot people are really upset about the Trump presidency, and rightfully so IMO, but I've had something else on my mind a lot lately. We are saying goodbye to one of the greatest presidents this country has ever had. We have seen the Obama family through 8 years in the White House. Not one scandal. Not one embarrassment. They've been nothing but a beautiful image of what real American families are like. I wish we could have just 4 more years. This president stirred the only bits of real American pride I've felt since I was too young to understand what that meant. I hope history doesn't forget what a great president he was. The only thing worse than my grandchildren learning of president Trump in highschool is if they end up being fed a right wing media version of the Obama presidency. I'm gonna miss these guys.

I'll genuinely miss Obama. Whether you liked him or not, there's a certain feeling of comfort that comes with him. He's naturally presidential. Trump is the opposite: new, unpredictable, unprofessional...

I agree!
Obama will be remembered as one of the greats, he has earned his place in history. His family is beautifully and effortlessly classy. I will miss their intelligence, charm, whit and humor.

Oh wow, I'm glad to see I'm not the only American mourning Obama's departure. I'm not sure if he'll go down as one of the greats, but I honestly admire the guy. He walked into a mess and he did his damned best to clean it up, despite all the shit he had to put up with from Congress, and the Tea Party, and shit stations like Fox news.... we were fortunate to have him as the leader of our country, and I'm hoping that history will honor his time in office as our media for the past 8 years has failed to do.

It feels really weird to me, because he stepped into the White House when I was about 12 years old, and now he's leaving when I'm 20. My entire adolescence and a portion of my young adulthood was spent thinking of him as my president. It's feels... off, I guess, just to imagine someone taking his place.

Even though I had some issues with a few of his decisions, overall I agree that he was one of the greats. I'm definitely going to miss him.

Believe me, it's not just Americans who are mourning his departure

Allow time to be their judge. allow us the benefit of perspective, let the next generation view what Obama did and did not do in relation to how it shaped or destroyed this decade. Don't be sad yet, and don't declare any president is without scandal. As time will bear out all things.
