I have talked to him, given that its getting to his liver. He told me it was none of my business and to fuck off. Well, you have to Want to stop.
My guess is that you won't be slipping Antabuse into his pasta.

That's right, truer words never spoken. You have to want sobriety more than you want [insert your high of choice].

So true.
I think the key is... most people don't want to be sober... in the sense that I think many people enjoy having a few drinks on the weekend. But the idea here is sort of a cost benefit analysis. What are you getting out of drinking/using vs what is it costing you...?
Sure, shooting heroin into my arm felt awesome for two years if I'm being completely honest. But is it worth the withdrawal? Is it worth the feeling of never having money? Is it worth the feeling of wanting to steal, even from people I love? Is it worth the feeling I had when I was kicked out of my house and told I had to sleep on the street? No.
The biggest question I would pose to someone on the fence... Is it worth it?
“Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.
It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love.
Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. Ingersoll

... and when you're on the fence, can you simply do "one or two"?
I don't know about anyone else, but I can't. I can't. One becomes two becomes six becomes ten ... etc etc ad tedium.

Exactly. It has to come to a point where it's either yes or no, for many people. Sure, some can moderate after having problems with serious drugs. But how many out of 10? Probably not many.

That's what we're fighting against. It's pretty awful sometimes. I hope things turn out okay.
