Any China Mieville fans here? So far, I've read Perdido Street Station, Iron Council, Kraken and The City & The City, all of which are excellent.

I'm reading a book called The Mote in God's Eye by Larry Niven(authour of ring world) and Jerry Pournelle. Its an old one, one i found in my father's collection. I'm half way through it. And it is really good. For a book written in the 70s, its well detailed and seems highly scientific.

I am a big fan of Niven's collaborations, particularly with Steven Barnes. Back in the 80's, I really thought Dream Park and The Legacy of Heorot were cool. I read the sequels to Dream Park, which were lacklustre, and as I have become aware that there was a sequel to Heorot, I may revisit that series, though with no great expectation.

As a socialist, I re-read my books which have influenced me in that way. My favourites-
THE RAGGED TROUSERED PHILANTHROPISTS by Robert Tressell
THE IRON HEEL by Jack London
RED SHELLEY by Paul Foot
THE PRICE OF A CIGAR by Peter Wood
SPARTACUS by Lewis Grassic Gibbon ( forget the film, the book is superb )
ANIMAL FARM and 1984 by George Orwell
THE JUNGLE by Upton Sinclair
A man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

Bozo, you might enjoy Mieville, even politically.

I normally stick to non-fiction, but after watching Game of Thrones on HBO, I started reading the series and have really enjoyed it. I'm currently on A Feast For Crows.

A friend recently recommended that series to me.
