Rock Concert etiquette?

RE: Rock Concert etiquette?
Always do the right thing by other party goers but fuck the establishment!

I remember going to Deep purple and having seating allocations! Yeah, right!
I think I was the first to charge to the stage and everyone stampeded behind me.

The poor security dudes didn't stand a chance!
First rule... the music comes first.

Also went to motorhead with mates. They were happy to stand and enjoy the show with their jacks.
I said seeya later dudes and forced my way to the front.
Great night. Jacks, choof, babes... Life doesn't get any better... Just don't do drugs! They're bad for you! Lol!

rip. Lemmy.

Least of my worries.

And besides, it's not that bad:

Yeah, actually, I was thinking of that anyway.  Lee and I work in a call center, so loss of hearing would make our jobs kinda difficult.  I'm just not sure if the ones you get from the drug store will be strong enough.  My dad used to get those for his job and we had a decent sized collection he brought home.  They dampened the sound a little..... but not really that much.  Hopefully it will be enough to preserve my hearing.

Anyway, I plan these things ahead.  Maybe too much.  We mostly just need to decide what we're doing about parking.  We can pay the most for parking and park right next to the center, we can pay a little less for parking and walk about half a mile or we can get free parking and walk about a mile.  Or we can take the risky option, park for free just two blocks from the center, but we'd be parking around derelict buildings and homeless shelters where it gets kinda scary at night.  Honestly, that's my least favorite option.

I just wish I knew how long I'd have to wait out front.  I mean, I got my tickets already, but there's still a line out front, right?  How long should I expect to be in that line?  I hate unknowns.

What the hell do I know. I haven't seen one in 40 years. I think the last was Boston or Styx. Not sure, those days were kind of blurry.

Or do .. but just don't get them in a knot?

I also wouldn't know.  Have only been to one live concert.  A long time ago I heard Tangerine Dream at the Warfield in S.F.  I don't enjoy large crowds.  Kills any possible buzz for me.

I can tell you're going to have a wild rocking night just from this post.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Hey, now.

I've been a fan since I first listened to them in the late 90's.  I didn't love music quite as much then as I do now; let's just say I had some significant psychological changes since then.  Anyway, this is the first time I've had both the passion to want to see a good musical performance and the finances to afford it.  Not to mention, most of the rest of the music out there are all the same: single artists, focused almost entirely on vocals without any actual musicians, playing instruments on stage.  There is so little rock music that's popular anymore, it's disappointing.

Not only that, but I can't help but think American Idiot is more appropriate now than ever.

Saw Motley Crüe at Wembley Arena in the UK in the late 80's. Still have hearing loss I think.
I suggest taking some earplugs and avoid the mosh pit.

If you drink, do so from a plastic bottle with a screw on cap, so you don't spill it on someone when you get shoved from behind by the surging crowd or paulpablo trying to make his way to the front for a speaker dive.

Leave your phone in your pocket and enjoy the music. Second on the sit down and take a 15 minute pause and avoid the mad rush to exit.

Leave your inhibitions at home. Music is for visceral enjoyment. Only critics critique, and it is a curse.
