I found it amazing that under Tony Blair the Labour Party was doing the sorts of things Conservatives are now doing!

Thousands of people with progressive diseases and mental illness have lost their disability benefits in a cruel Tory cut.

Charities sounded the alarm tonight over a "devastating" shake-up which has axed or reduced 230,000 people's Personal Independence Payments (PIP).

The fund is designed to help disabled people live independently and is replacing the old Disability Living Allowance (DLA).

Yet around 110,000 DLA claimants who were reassessed for the new benefit - 21% of the total - have been rejected since PIP launched in 2013.

Another 121,000 - 23% of those reassessed - were given PIP but at a lower rate than their previous benefit.

Overall, 40% saw their payments rise and 12% saw no change.

The figures, covering April 2013 to October 2016 and compiled by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), were slipped out without fanfare on the government's website today.

Looks like the UK needs to import some HARD WORK and AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM to overcome those illnesses and disabilities. Then they won't have to mooch off the government like the losers they are!

Cutting off support for the disabled is pretty low.

Sure is, but it has been happening for a while now. I don't know who I will vote for at the next general election but it probably won't be Conservative.

I lost my DLA as soon as it changed to PIP. The questions were different. It was basically all just physical stuff.

It's why I have to live on microwavable meals.

Tony Blair was trying to do the right thing and mostly he did. Iraq was a mistake and one that eventually brought him down. But Tory light is better than the unbridled tory we get now.
I liked Tony Blair and think a similar candidate is what labour need now. Andy burnham or David Miliband.

Disability benefits should go to "really disabled people" not those "taking pills at home, who suffer from anxiety", a key Theresa May aide says.

No 10 policy unit head George Freeman said personal independence payments (PIP) reforms were needed to roll back the "bizarre" decisions of tribunals.

Ministers say the changes will save £3.7bn but leave a "strong safety net".

But disability charity Scope criticised Mr Freeman's "crude" distinction between physical and mental health.

And Labour said the comments were "an insult to disabled people".
