Actually, birth control medication has improved quite a bit during the last years. Now there are alternatives to hormone-packed pills that give all those side effects (not to mention that you can't take them if you have migraines and your family has a history of thrombosis). For instance, the brilliant "p-ring" that doesn't give those side effects and is safe to use even for one with migraines.
But I do understand if one doesn't want to mess with the hormonal balance of one's body. Condoms are still my favorite contraception method Smile

This would include things which do not involve drugs, such as examinations by physicians or nurse-practitioners or midwives for such things as diaphrams. (Such devices require measurement to be useful, and that requires some sort of examination.)

When my ex-wife wanted one, I was still in the Navy, the military system was prohibited from providing them. My ex-wife had to see her midwife, which we had to pay for. Military insurance would not pay for such a visit.
