Thoughts on society and the human race

RE: Thoughts on society and the human race
I'm Silicoid. Your arguments regarding whether or not we could work the same way as ants is irrelevant since it doesn't involve rocks or eating rocks.

"Is it rock?" -Geode, Silicoid philosopher.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

RE: Thoughts on society and the human race
Government classifications for relevant (or soon to be so) powers in this galaxy, Triangulum, and Andromeda.

Silicoid: Apathetic Socialism.
Human GDO: Meritocracy.
Human UN: Socialism.
Alkari: Meritocracy.
Gnolam: Mercantilism.
Mrrshan: Hereditary Monarchy.
Psilon: Hereditary Monarchy supported by Parliament. (Only they are dead now, and thus no longer relevant)
Elerian: Feudalism.
Bulrathi: Feudalism.
Trilarian: Theocracy.
Sakkra: Socialism.
Orion: Anarcho-Capitalist Liberalism.
Darlok: Anarchy.
Klackon: Unificationism.
Ithkul: Unificationism.
Tevnarox: Oligarchy.
Omicron: Democracy.
Meklar: Minimalistic Anarchy.

There are others, of course... but these are the major players or the players. It's speculated by some of our Meklar scientists that some Psilon escaped our purge. We do not care, and they are interested in the results of this hypothesis.

I'd be confused if I was English too. By the way... your nation is destroyed utterly by GDO if you win. Glassed, the lot of it. Fun times. Even with everything going for you (sonic weaponry doesn't get sabotaged on a mass scale, China joins UN, the assault on the GDO begins before they form a treaty with Russia)... you survive by 1.67 billion as a race.

Alternately, if these three things don't happen: 1.72 billion humans survive. America nukes itself due to the GDO detonating the nukes they were attempting to fire at it. Middle east and africa are annihilated under glass. Rainforests are burned to eradicate the humans hiding in them. China is obliterated. Survivors only scattered remnants (if those), GDO, Russia (only some parts), Japan (surrendered), Switzerland (for staying neutral), a few portions of Germany.

Earth is in either case... fucked.

Any more you want to suggest? It's currently 3-0.

*EDIT* yeash I changed it don't bite me.

When you stake a human to an anthill, they eat the human alive. Most humans will not eat live ants. +1 Ants
Ants don't fight each other like humans do: they do it without weapons and are utterly cruel and ruthless. They fight to win. Ants +2
Ants don't care how nuclear fission works, they don't need it. Ants +3
Ants don't need to waste energy in the power of flight, they have everything they need. Ants +4
No matter what technologies, toxins, poisons, or anything else we develop, I still have ants in my kitchen. Ants +5.

But there is hope... the GDO immediately expand to Mars to begin terraforming it, and enter a Golden Age of science. Valuing achievement and ability above all else: talent finds home there. And it finds it from the very education system up... gone is standardization: replaced fully by specialization and skill. Religion is entirely dead as an organizational force.

The UN also enter a Golden Age of science, as they had to progress to survive against the onslaught of the GDO. Plasma weapons, carbon nanotube armor lining plated Tri-tungstenite, gauss cannons, unlimited energy and 100% efficient waste recycling... they took it out from sheer numbers, perseverance, and adaptation (I mentioned sonic weapons). They become a socialistic and world-united society in the process. Valuing happiness and general well being of everyone above all else: people can live in safety. And unlike the socialisms of the past: this truly is what the Human, Karl Marx wrote of and dreamt of.

Gone are the terrorists in both cases... gone are the wars with each other... gone is starvation and poverty... and at least for a few years is crime gone (it is forever gone in the GDO, returns in mild amounts to the UN after about a decade).

My niece does. -1 ants.

Quote:Ants don't fight each other like humans do: they do it without weapons and are utterly cruel and ruthless. They fight to win. Ants +2

Agreed but only +1.

Quote:Ants don't care how nuclear fission works, they don't need it. Ants +3

But the Klackon, more advanced and larger ants, do. Still only +1.

Quote:Ants don't need to waste energy in the power of flight, they have everything they need. Ants +4

Until the lawn mower comes along. Still only +1.

Quote:No matter what technologies, toxins, poisons, or anything else we develop, I still have ants in my kitchen. Ants +5.
James.

You aren't as ruthless to them as I am then. -1 for your own failure to rid yourself of ants.

Back to net 0 for the ants.

And just when everything seems to be going great...

First contact. By this time the Meklar-Silicoid has pulled back from this corner and to our borders to defend against the new threats from first Andromeda (the Psilon did survive, dammit) and then Triangulum.

Luckily, you are on level by then with all of us considering the Antaran attacks on all of our technology. The Meklar-Silicoid falls apart, as do all other alliances. The Mrrshan and Alkari still hate each other. Klackon space is demolished.

Good luck, humans. I hope you're GDO instead of UN... but at least UN are peaceful neighbors.
