Thoughts on society and the human race

When you stake a human to an anthill, they eat the human alive. Most humans will not eat live ants. +1 Ants
Ants don't fight each other like humans do: they do it without weapons and are utterly cruel and ruthless. They fight to win. Ants +2
Ants don't care how nuclear fission works, they don't need it. Ants +3
Ants don't need to waste energy in the power of flight, they have everything they need. Ants +4
No matter what technologies, toxins, poisons, or anything else we develop, I still have ants in my kitchen. Ants +5.

Lol I like the random point scoring, I don't quite think you know how it works.

1. Why would a human just be staked to an anthill? That's a false scenario.
2. You are giving ants points because they dont have weapons? Are you crazy? They don't have one of these:
[Image: flamethrower.jpg] Therefore we win. Period.
3. Tell that to all the ants who died in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
4. Ants only do what they have to, therefore they do not progress. -1,000,000
5. That ant may be in your kitchen but you can always stamp on it.

You see. I can do it too. Big Grin

Yeah, they're encouraged by being flooded with tetosterone. That a living thing does not need weapons for its species to survive is surely a good thing?

On flame throwers.

George Carlin observed that the guy who invented the flame throwers had to have thought "Gee,I'd REALLY like to set fire to that chap standing over there" How fucking sick is that! Horrible weapon.

Not when having weaponry can make you infinitely more powerful than your enemies Wink

The whole point was that ants are not smarter than humans. If we have the ability to make a flamethrower and ants don't, then it's +1 humans Big Grin

I understand your point.

MY point is insects don't need to be smart. They are perfectly adapted,we are not. Insects were here before we were and will be here long after we're gone.

If were so fucking smart, why are we still killed in our millions by microbes?

Intelligence is not necessarily an indicator of a high chance of a species survival. Two of the oldest predators on the planet, millions of years old, are among the most stupid:Sharks and crocodilia.

Our intelligence may well destroy us.

Southerners refer to anyone who isn't southern as foreign. I was the first one in my family born outside of the south and my grandparents used to 'joke' that I was a foreigner.

Read back through my posts and tell me where I disagreed with anything you just fucking said. You clearly do not understand why I was in this whole ridiculous argument in the first place.

Actually, your spelling there is too good for a southerner. Just kidding of course.Smile I have met enough stupid southerners in my life that whenever I hear the southern drawl, I automatically think ignorance. Sure, there just as many stupid people here in the north, but whenever I hear that accent, my brain is conditioned to think the person is stupid.

I've never been to the Southern US,even though I have an open invitation to visit an elderly Aunt who lives in Savannah.

--Aunt Jane is very rich, and lives in one of those faux antebellum mansions which look like Tara. She drives a white ,1959 Cadillac, with white upholstery. Her neighbor, roughly the same age still says 'nigra'. (Aunt Jane is a former New york Liberal and is appalled)

I've actually only ever met three southerners socially. One was an ever-so-nice-lady from Alabama I met at AA.She used to say 'all y'all' a lot. When drinking she favoured bourbon and branch water (whatever that is). The other and her hubby, were from Mississippi, both oozing southern charm. The nice lady had just finished her doctoral thesis at old Miss. She proved slaves in the old south were for the most part very happy being slaves. Apparently there is oodles of evidence. The evidence is in the form of statements from slaves who were asked if they were happy by their owners. The written statements also prove there were far more literate slaves than ever previously suspected..Thinking

That particular dinner party did not end well.Things went a bit quiet after I referred to the lady, her school and her hubby as a bunch of mental pygmies.Cool Shades

I think plenty of insects have been wiped out by disease (e.g., what has been happening to the common honeybee). We just notice.
