Oh, well......if it's in star trek..that settles it, lol. Are you ready to beam up yet? Any broad separation between "rational decisions" and "emotional decisions" is a term of art and folklore...and it wouldn't matter if there were such a separation in some specific case..since that won't help any of the other nonsense in your monument to nonsense. You;re going to do what you're going to do...but if you want a compelling and coherent position, you're going to have to start over from the ground floor.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Proof via Star Trek?!
Who the fuck needs that when there's refutation via Star Wars? Or IOW: The Chewbacca defense. This claim is not specific to Star Trek and other works of art. It is also a claim made by neuroscientists as well such as that one neuroscientist I quoted in this book. I think you're overselling your own claim and the agreement of any nueroscientist. Perhaps you should reach out to whomever you quoted, though...see if they feel they're being well represented?

You don't have to have auditory or visual hallucinations when schizophrenic, quite a few don't. Delusions however are invariably present. Persecution, paranoia, grandeur, magical, ............. Does anyone wonder why she finds it "convenient" to live with her mother but won't talk about why? And that she talks about medical issues like she's the patient of a therapist?
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Well I've had many of the 'negative symptoms' of schizophrenia in the past but at least here in the UK you don't get diagnosed with schizophrenia if you never experience any of the 'positive symptoms'. So, I wouldn't be surprised if many people are deluded into thinking that their rational value judgments are real emotions. Even if they weren't real emotions, I still wouldn't be surprised if people were deluded into thinking they were real value judgments due to, again, their biology and survival instincts deluding them. Such deluding mechanisms serve a benefit to aid our survival. Many people have these delusional mechanisms such as religious believers while others, such as atheists, are beyond them and can see the truth that gods such as Thor are nonsense. I am beyond such delusional mechanisms which is the reason why I can see the truth that it is our positive emotions that give real good values to our lives. Then it really comes down to a situation where we really don't know the truth one way or the other regardless of the things I say or what others say. |
