While everyone's getting ready to eat Turkey (or Tofurky in some cases) and Pumpkin Pie, a different kind of Pie is going to be killing something other than your waist line (Okay that joke was bad, but his name was asking for it). Ajit Pai wants to kill Net Neutrality. And right around Thanksgiving too, hoping nobody will notice. Originally, I just put this in the Damned Donald Trump topic, but I felt it needed more discussion because Ajit Pai is trying to make sure it goes unnoticed.
The argument, of course, is that the regulations are too burdensome (you know the same regulations ISP's claim to be so happy to follow. They would TOTALLY never throttle websites. Which is why they're fighting so hard against regulations to prevent throttling, and to ensure customers are informed if they DO throttle. Makes total sense.
Given in most areas that ISP's have a monopoly (where your only choices are ISP X (where X is AT&T, Verizon, or Comcast) or... well HughesNet (Which is basically dialup with some time each day at normal speeds). if and when they decide to start throttling speeds--there's little anyone can do. You can't just change companies, because your options are extremely limited as it is. (Funny enough, the pro-competition crowd has done nothing to try to create more competition in regards to ISPs like they have in... oh say the UK for example)
Many people have wrote to the FCC, let their views be known. And Ajit Pai is, like most politicians, going to ignore them in favor of the people lining his pockets (and if they aren't, he's just fucking everyone over for the fun of it I guess)
I'm not sure if we can save Net Neutrality or not. But if we're quiet about it, I know we can't. The internet needs to be free and open. Sites MUST be treated equally.

The whole tone of Church teaching in regard to woman is, to the last degree, contemptuous and degrading. - Elizabeth Cady Stanton
