Money raising through child work
December 3, 2017 at 5:33 am
For those of you who don't know, I'm from Romania. I went this morning with my dad to a catholic church. There they were decorations made by children for sale. The children were from a charitable organisation. WTF? The Church makes needy children work for their own money? I can't call it child labor, because making a few decorations isn't harmful, and the organisation may become some money from church donations, but still. Religious people don't have any problem with this, I wonder how would they react if Bill Gates would make third world kids work for their own money while making charity donation for them.

I'm less concerned about that than I am at rumors suggesting the instruction manual is even worse than what comes with Ikea furniture.

I recall being organized at school to sell candy and magazines door to door to raise money so our class could go on field trips.
I also willingly worked for the neighbors 'walking beans' to earn money for myself starting when I was in junior high.
To this day I still enjoy earning money and spending it.

I'm not mad that they make kids work, what pisses me off is that they make needy children work to get money themselves, while the Church has a lot of money which it uses for itself and claims to be generous.

You may not completely understand the "manipulation" aspect of religion. It includes financial. They claim to be generous but always never seem to have enough. In this country they even get to distribute government collected money and take the credit.

For once I can't rail against the church, what they're doing is harmless enough afaics. They're teaching the kids a few craft skills and I can't see any obvious exploitation going on and I imagine the amount of money they make would fit comfortably under my foreskin. They are showing kids how to be kids, I can't see a problem here.
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.
