As a little kid, I loved numbers and symbols in and of themselves. Sheet music was fascinating to me. My grandfather loved classical music. He used to demonstrate on his grand piano what everything meant. Fun times.

Can't do it now, though. Ans who knows what a classic would have been from my childhood in the late 80's and early 90's? I liked smooth jazz.

The sad thing is I have a huge collection of music with some of it dating back to Hildegard Von Bingen and I failed to recognize some of those songs. I never bothered with UFO, that Tim Hardin song was not one of the ones I recognized, and of all the Pink Floyd eras to pick, did you seriously pick a song from Momentary Lapse of Reason? That’s one of their weakest albums.

At least I’ve got enough of a knowledge of Yes, Zep, Cream, Pearl Jam, and Van Morrison to know the rest.

All I recognised was Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin.

I certainly wouldn't lump Pearl Jam in the rest of those groups. They're just not that good.

I am familiar with all the bands the Rev mentioned, and have music from all of them. But I only recognized the Led Zeppelin lyrics. #uncouth   When I was younger, people used to tell me to go buy a six-pack of couth and drink it all in one sitting.

It's a shame Astral Weeks isn't more famous. I suppose the fact that he didn't release any singles from the album (as the least interesting part of Van Morrison's plan to get out of his contract with Bang Records) had something to do with it.

Also, if you have a copy of Taxi Driver, Martin Scorsese claimed he based the first 15 minutes of the film on Astral Weeks.

I went and listened to some of the tracks on Astral Weeks. Looks like I have some more Van Morrison purchases in my future.
