Here's some solutions since apparently I was expected to have some:
1. Police should believe rape / sexual assault victims, and treat them as honest victims unless they find direct evidence that contradicts their story. Victims should be kept anonymous, and, so should the accused, up until they are convicted.
2. Women should receive the same length prison sentences as men, regardless of their family situation. It shouldn't matter if a women has a child, men have children too, but we don't make their children an exception to proper punishment. At the same time, society needs to grow up and realize that female teachers who rape their students are just as bad as male teachers who rape their students. It's not "lucky" for a teenage boy to be sexually assaulted by their female teacher.
3. Men should be allowed to use domestic violence shelters, preferably the same ones that women use, because male victims of domestic violence are the same kind of victims as women are.
4. Cancer sucks. Fund prostate cancer awareness at the same rates as breast cancer awareness. Or y'know, maybe just have one big "fuck cancer" fundraising charity that doesn't focus on any particular cancer.

That will always happen when you open up on the Internet. Don't worry too much about it. While I agree with Thena that your approach is not as typical as you might think these days, I think it's perfectly respectable to prioritize family and make that a job. Plenty of women feel insecure about not doing that. There is no right way.
Quote:Anyway, women abstaining from the more demanding, cut throat sort of jobs, and having a desire to be a bigger part of their children's upbringing has been an observation. Nothing to do with my personal shortcomings.
It might be because I grew up around women who mostly had to work for a living or only stayed home because they had young children, but most women I know work while raising kids. Few have the luxury of staying home.
Thank you.
And to clarify, I agree there is no right way. And I'm not talking exclussively about women being stay at home moms. I'm talking about women still working, but since most of them have pregnancies to deal with and babies to take care of, they're probably less likely than men to want a super demanding career that will pull them TOO much away from home - such as being a CEO. Which is why I think so few CEOs are women. That's all I'm saying.

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Edited to add: I want to make it clear that I don't dislike feminists out of hand. I just take umbrage to this post that demonizes anyone who doesn't want the tainted label.
What do expect to say? That I'm crushed? Sorry...Can't say I'm crushed, Shell.
I give not a fuck about your likes/dislikes or what causes you align yourself with. I do find it slightly amusing that you and hubby seemed to take such personal offense at my post, but still....I'm pretty far from actually giving a fuck about the verbiage you cats choose to use or defend.

Honestly it seems you're the one who came in here super aggressive and mean to everyone. Tib and shell were voicing their opinions calmly as far as I could tell.

I'm glad you find it amusing, but just to set the record straight, I wasn't personally offended by your post. I just found it a laughably inaccurate rant.

And I was only voicing my opinion in my first post, not attacking any person in particular.
Tibs resorted to referring me as a "dipshit" and Shell of course, demonstrated her usual charm.
It certainly seems there's been enough "aggression" to go around, but if you want to attribute it solely to me, then go for it.
Blame it on "raging feminism" if you like.

I just used the term you used to refer to us. See, that's what's nice about egalitarianism. If you can use that word, so can I. Equal rights!

Not surprising.
I'd expect someone like you would.

Pretty sure I was more low-key than usual. I know you're pretty sensitive, so I tried not to upset your delicate sensibilities. I'm a failure.
