Every other country in the world manages to be elect leaders who are not celebrities. I don't know why America should be considered a special case.

Your asking me to pick the difference between two potential cadidates leaving aside everythinv we know about one which shows that they know what they're doing and are effective at it.

Oh, and from her own show I'm guessing that Oprah is far less liberal or in favour of a public health system than you think. Her favourite snake oil salesmen wouldn't last a day in a public health system and her personal profits would dry up in a liberal society.

Jesus fucking Christ, I was addressing the context of your previous response. How was Hillary different from Oprah in terms of policies or being in the hands of corprorations? You're just guessing then that Oprah doesn't stray far from hard right policies.

And of course experience matters, but I put that aside to respond to what you were saying earlier.

For one Clinton had policies, and as the 2016 primaries wound on showed she was amenable to adjusting those policies as needs and eviidence dictated. Aside from her anti-vaxx and sham medicine credentials you can point to not one singlepolicy position Oprah has that is a government competence. All she has ever done is mouth substanceless platitutes and shill snake oil to the gullible

As a woman totally dependant on the current system, Oprah's not going to bite the corporate hand that feeds her.

Bull which is why she backed Obama in both his runs.

You think every single billionaire is a republican?

Obama in economic and budgetary terms was a Reagan republican.

That's the Dems biggest problem actually, every time the repugs tack right on the economy the Dems tack the same way to stay as close to possible.

One final word on Oprah's endorsement of Obama: image. Celebrities give out endorsements when they think it makes them look good. Given the demographics of the people Oprah is fleecing, it made sense for her to publicly back Obama, even if she couldn't stand him in private.

Ok fine, but again, what are you going to say IF she were to run and win the nomination, AND the Obamas back her, you going to call the Obamas dumb too?

There is NO SUCH THING as utopia so stop trying to chase one.

She is still a liberal, and 2018 matters too, with a dem majority, and a dem president, we can undo the damage the GOP is causing, WE CANNOT do that trying to be purists.

Now again, she is not a given, and she may not run, and I have already said she was not my first choice. BUT SCOTUS is the most important to me because they are what long term court cases are based on.

I DO NOT want to give that orange fuckface 8 years.

This is one thing about my fellow liberals that pissed me off about 2016, we had far too many purists and that cost us the election.

IT TAKES 3 branches of government. The office of president is only 1. Oprah , nor Bernie, nor Hillary nor even Warren or Michelle, can win unless DEMS stop fighting, what is important now is not choosing a perfect candidate, but working on all local, state and national elections.

Jesus Christ. No.

Can't we have someone in the WH who is qualified?

President Winfrey was a big joke in the movie Idiocracy. I am not laughing anymore. We are a nation of drooling morons.

Aren't you shifting goalposts now? I get it, you don't like her, and that's fine. And your criticism here is fair as well. But to say that she doesn't stray far from hard right policies is a bit out there, especially without evidence to back this up.

OMG......

A celebrity is ANYONE FAMOUS, not just TV or movie stars.

We have conservative career politicians that are fucking up our country.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OPRAH AND 45 is that He is a point fucking brat who got his start from daddy giving him multi millions. Oprah started out with NOTHING and did so 40 years ago when it was FAR harder for an African American, much less a female, to move up. She is not DUMB nor is she a con. Even if not perfect.

If you insist on being a purist looking for a perfect candidate you are going to give 45 8 years. Or even if the asshole gets impeached, Pence and the GOP longer time in power.

DAMN, and you are STILL jumping the gun in any case assuming when the title of the thread is "just speculation".

YES, and again, what makes you think she would not be qualified? Bill Gates has never held office, would you vote for him?

AGAIN, Oprah STARTED OUT WITH NOTHING, was not handed anything. She isn't a spoiled brat, she was not handed her wealth like 45 was. She can read legal contracts and she can write her own speeches and she is a voracious reader. I am quite sure she has a very high IQ.

I am sure she would fill her cabinet with smart people, on par with Michelle Obama and Warren.

AT THIS POINT getting the GOP and 45 out of power is my goal. SCOTUS is my goal. If it takes her to do that, then that is far better than leaving 45 or the GOP in power.

AND AGAIN,

DEMS for 36 years have lost focus, we gave up on local and state elections when Reagan successfully busted the air traffic control unions.

IT WILL NOT MATTER one fucking bit long term even if we put Bernie or Warren or Hillary in the White House, if we don't work long term on local and state elections and expand our map.
