There are some pretty ugly people in science too. The difference between a theologian and a science proponent is when you're several beers in and about to make a possible reproductive mistake, the science-proponent is the one to bet on. It's one thing to say you boinked ugly, but popped out a potential Nobel prize-winner. It's quite another to boink ugly and pop out another Person of Wal-Mart.

That is actually true and a pretty good rule to live by. To my shame, I have fucked stupid a few times. Wow. What are you doing at a Christian school, Searchingforanswers? It's going to be so hard for people to see eye to eye with you when it comes to faith. The idea of someone NOT believing is hard to stomach when you're in the presence of so many believers and you're discussing your journey with the Lord, they're literally going to attack you day and night. I'm sorry. If I was agnostic I would tell the students this: "Every person has to make their own decision about whether or not there's a God. When you pressure me for answers, it makes me not want to believe what you believe, because then...I'd be like you. If you want to be good Christians, let me make my own choices about what I believe."
If I was agnostic I would tell the teacher, "I have to find my own way. Right now I'm not interested in God, I'm just trying to get my education. I believe in free will, so please let me decide about religious issues for myself. Thank you."
It's best to be polite, actually being polite really makes Christians think. I'm a Christian and I've had people tell me in a really kind way to back off, and I honored them, just like I want to honor you. It's not my job to beat Christianity into you or force you to recite anything, but it is my job to treat people how I want to be treated. And if I was agnostic, I'd want people to leave me alone and be respectful. Really you shouldn't have to know ANY facts to get Christians to leave you alone, I'm so sorry about them! They're desperate because they believe that Hell is a real place and the idea of someone being separated from God's love for eternity, is extremely painful, just thinking of it makes me so sad, so I know where they're coming from. Then again, for someone who doesn't believe, there's nothing to fear.

Haha, I guess you're right! I've met a couple of stiff-lipped Christians myself. I remember taking a radio broadcasting class and a young, sheltered Christian told me that the music I played, though Christian, wasn't good because it had drums in it and loud singing. That's when I knew that people grow and learn in so many ways, and sometimes, they're just really closed. I try not to be, but I can be narrow sometimes too...

Well see the thing is that its an APOLOGETICS course. So the whole class is spent learning about all the arguments for God. And usually im asked how would you respond to this??? And no matter what i say we get back to "faith." I doubt if it will be that bad next time. We're learning about why God is holy and justified in sending people to hell. This should go alot worse. (=
If I die and god is real, im so screwed.
