It's funny how people have a problem with the word Atheist.
It's too in your face or something. I like it though. Probably for that reason. Brights is ironically the stupidest name ever.
I don't have an issue with telling anyone around me. It's not an issue of like or don't like.
Guess I could say "What's it to you buddy?"
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Well, atheist is a negative term because it describes what one doesn't believe in, instead of what one does believe in. That's why I use the word "Freethinker," it describes what I do believe in: freedom of thought and freedom to reach your own conclusions about things. If I lemming off a cliff, it's only because I followed my nose and not the ass of another lemming, as Dennis Miller once said.

I was born with the gift of laughter and a sense the world is mad.
People don't like atheist? I'd introduce myself as "baby killer" instead.
Why not just say "I don't believe in God" if and when someone asks?
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

The MEANING of life is the experience of living ... (from Frank Herbert) The VALUE of life is the legacy we leave behind ..... (from observation)
I don't have the slightest problem with, "atheist." I have no desire to pussyfoot around it. I'm an atheist and will tell that to anyone who asks.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
