Ha, we had a foodie weekend because Joods came to visit. I gained about a pound, and I am working to lose it again this week. Walked quite a bit both Monday and yesterday. Today, I'm going to take it easy on my knee and do some of my physical therapy for my back/yoga.

Does anyone else do planned cheating?

Easter is comming and both Mr. A and I will cheat.  Our traditional Easter dinner is Turkish:  feta cheese and parsley barrek, baklava, homemade pita, grape leaves stuffed with rice and lamb, and ride pilaf are all usually no nos.  Will have a little of all those things as well as lamb shishkabob,  yogurt and cucumber salad, olives, and various dips.

Its easier for me to get back on track if my cheating is planned rather than spontaneous.

I'm looking forward to it.  Made the baklava yesterday and mailed most of it to our college girls.

I don't plan cheating, but I ate too much Ice-cream and nuts yesterday, AND cheese. Way too much fat. Fat is good but not how much I ate.

I gonna try to go two step forwards to make for the one step backward!

I can't plan to cheat. Any cheating makes me lax.

I feel pretty healthy and energetic.

Mine looks more like this.  I eat a diet that is low in carbohydrates (particularly simple carbs), high in protein and fat.  My ideal mix is 15/45/40 carb/protein/fat.  I also supplement my diet with high protein, low fat/carb, high fiber protein shakes.

I had a stretch back in 2016 where I put on 12 lbs in a few days, despite seemingly doing all the right things. I hadn't made any significant changes to either my diet, activity level, or exercise regiment. My dietary regimen is to eat 1000 fewer calories than my sedentary break-even point and I rarely eat any of the calories I earn through exercise.

Obviously it was all water retention but it was deflating like a Tom Brady football.

I will allow myself a planned cheat meal where I do not (always) log food consumed, but I do try to still eat without gluttony, and I try to make good food choices. I'll eat some things that I would not ordinarily (e.g. potatoes and bread) but in small quantities. I try to load up on veggies and protein.

I try to limit them to infrequent special occasions.

Remember how I said that my insurance won't cover any weight loss treatment whatsoever?

Well, since we're getting married, I'm going to get on her insurance which is not only vastly cheaper with better coverage and lower out of pocket expenses, it also covers bariatric weight loss surgery if you meet certain criteria - generally, BMI over 40, or BMI over 30 with complicating factor such as diabetes, apnea, etc.

I meet the criteria.

As long as I can get through the pre-surgical program (which will be easy for me), I will be getting the surgery, perhaps as soon as September or October.

After we are married, as soon as I am able to get an appointment I am going to get the ball rolling on that. I am going to continue dieting. This is a lifestyle change for me.
