When I first read the title of this thread I thought it read "Dawkins converted to Islam" and I was like "WTF???"

"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful with out having to believe there are fairies at the bottom of it to?" -Douglas Adams.
Well if I read that I wouldn't believe it for 1 fucking minute of course
He wants a tape recorder at his bed when he dies for proof he didn't have a deathbed conversion LOL - doens't wanna have lies told about him like they were about Darwin (and like they are on this thread funnily enough lol). EvF RE: Darwin converted to Islam

That would only be slightly more far-fetched than the claim that Darwin was a muslim. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Dar...n_religion Search for muslim/Islam: 0 results!
haha - well I think, quite a bit more far-fetched actually (I think anyway) - BUT the Darwin muslim thing is still EXTREMELY ridiculous lol
Dawkins would have to get some SERIOUS case of Alzeimers ...and even THEN - it's still probably bloody unlikely that he'd necessarily take up THAT delusion, and specifically THAT religion too! Well it may be a surprise but in the case of Darwin I had the same reaction.

I think it's quite funny how they refer to the "code" in the qu'ran that describes human evolution then provide no link to it, or even briefly describe what it says.
EvF, I think that's totally necessary, when RD dies, it can be almost guaranteed that stories about his deathbed conversion will circulate. Even with a tape, classic theist logic could be used... "Well he didn't convert to definitely-not-christianity, so that's a valid reason to believe he was a christian"
EvF, I think that's totally necessary, when RD dies, it can be almost guaranteed that stories about his deathbed conversion will circulate.
It's not NECESSARILY necessary (lol, just to be pedantic). But I personally, yes - think it's totally fucking awesome! I think I wanna do it TOO! Even though I'm not famous - even if just for kicks! lol.
Even with a tape, classic theist logic could be used... "Well he didn't convert to definitely-not-christianity, so that's a valid reason to believe he was a christian"
LOL - how the fuck would that work though lol? If you're an atheist you don't believe in God or Jesus as anything more than just a man - so you can't be Christian! If you're an atheist you ARE by definiton - a 'definitely-not-christian'! UNLESS you are including simply a CULTURAL Christian. BUT - the hypothetical Christians calling him that would be meaningless - because Dawkins ALREADY calls himself a CULTURAL Christian because 'we live in a Christian culture here', etc. I've heard him say it! Which of course has nothing to do with actually believing it. They could try and find a loop-hole but they'd have to be even MORE pathetic because they'd have fuck-all to go by. So...? Hm. That was the point lol, it was a joke referencing the old "no evidence means its just as likely something exists as not exists" Don't read so much into it, not that much thought went into it
