It's not completely out of the realm of possibility. Bundy wasn't known for being an open and honest person. He was full of shit 90% of the time, and I would take anything he said with a grain of salt. It's part of his profile to be a manipulative cunt.

I think it's safe to assume he was telling the truth when he said he liked hardcore porn, and as we saw, it certainly didn't keep him from raping anyone...

Here's the rub. Bundy wasn't into raping people. He was into raping, torturing and killing people. While I don't think rape is a particularly sexy porn genre, I doubt guys who like to wank to the idea of power are on quite the same level as Ted Bundy.

But to say watching violent porn prevents someone with a propensity to rape from actually raping, is just as silly as saying watching violent movies prevents someone with a propensity for violence from actually being violent. It seems to me, if anything, those things would reinforce the behavior on people who are already suceptible, not prevent them.

Yeah, I don't think any media keeps people from acting out behaviors. It's entertainment. Sometimes, I hate pedestrians who act like assholes while I'm driving. Sometimes, I play video games that let you hit pedestrians. I still don't hit pedestrians with my car, and I have no desire to.

Neither of these arguments are very good, in my opinion. Porn doesn't cause or stop any crimes, y'all. It's just people fucking on film.

No, I think the problem is, that you consider your beliefs as beyond reproach and harmless. I'm trying to show you, that if you're worried that some sexual fantasies may cause harm to vulnerable people, you should also be worried about exposing vulnerable and unstable people to religious fantasies, presented as unquestionable facts.

I'd be curious to know which of my beliefs you consider harmful.  

As to the second sentence, I would agree that beliefs should be taught as exactly that - beliefs. There is no hard proof that God exists, that's why we call it faith.

Fair enough, I'll go with my morality then, which I believe is the socially excepted morality in civilized society: Believing women are objects is wrong.

Women being treated as property was all fine and dandy until not that long ago - and still is in a lot of places. Your bible contains specific instructions on how to properly sell your daughters into slavery and how to murder sexually unfaithful women, including rape victims. If Bob believes, that women are chattel, what will it do to him, when he reads, that they were created as an afterthought, specifically for man's pleasure?

Sure.... until you get to the part where Jesus tells us to treat others the way we want to be treated, befriends a prostitute, rescues an adulteress from being stoned to death, and tells us not to look at women lustfully. I would think, if a random crazy person who knows nothing about Christianity stumbled upon the bible and read it as is, no context or perspective, he'd probably come away having some pretty conflicting views. I agree, the bible by itself is not enough because people will just interpret in differently, that's why we have churches, doctrines, etc. It's better to have more clear guidelines, but that's a conversation for a different thread.

But believing women are sexual objects can lead to treating women like they are sexual objects. A little different from believing in the spiritual realm.

And believing that people can be possessed by demons can lead to abuse and murder. You're trying to compare belief in demons, without any consequences, to the consequences of objectifying women. You're employing a double standard. People die as a result of the belief in demons. It's questionable whether sexual objectification of women led to murder, as in Bundy's case. They both appear to be of equal frequency, however. Leaving us with the mystery of why you feel belief in demons is innocent, and indulging in porn isn't.
