"You just don;t understand!" Maybe, maybe, and maybe you're a poor communicator and you don;t really believe what you've described. That would be a fairly tidy way to end up in such a situation.

Or, maybe..outside theory here..you don;t understand your own beliefs? I offer that possibility, because it would clear up these confused descriptions of it.

Still doesn;'t..and I;m still amused by the idea that you could compel yourself to "believe" something you knew to be untrue.

Hardly.  I;ve been wrong plenty of times.  Those things are discarded.  It will happen again.  I don;t have the "I;ll never be proven wrong" bit shoring up any idiocy on my part.

People have told me repeatedly they do not understand my communication style.

I;m not.

You didn't address what I was responding to or why it matters. This tells me that you are more looking to "prove me wrong" rather than actually get me to talk about my beliefs. I don't think you actually care what my beliefs are and instead all you care about is justifying your own which is why you look to discredit others.

I didn't say I believe something I knew was untrue. Didn't imply it either. Can't even be deduced that I do. I don't actually care that much about the issue of whether there is a God or not, however, if I am going to address what I believe in regards to God, then I am going to say first that I am unsure whether there is a God and next say that if there is a God, it likely is in everything and is all encompassing. Does this really seem like such an incorrect stance to have? If so, why?

Well, if you know you don't only believe what is true and you know you can be wrong, why are you giving me the third degree here? We've already established that you don't actually care about understanding where I am coming from, so your motivation must just be an ego trip.

I have no problem with discussing my beliefs with people with an open mind. What I have a problem is discussing my beliefs with people who don't really care about what I believe and only care about proving me wrong. I mean you can say "this is a discussion board and some people are going to be assholes so you should know better" but that doesn't really prevent you from being one of those assholes and being on the internet is not a licence to be an asshole, because there actually are people on the other end who are human.

This reminds me of when RR explained that he wasn't going to support his point because he felt his questioners had "dishonorable intentions." Same bullshit.

So your saying the same thing has come up before? I think that says something, what about you?

I understand this as a theory, but in my experience, it is pretty much impossible to be in a state of continual renewal. I know this because I was in that state of mind from about 7th grade through high school. I was always trying to perfect myself, which I found to be an impossible and arduous task. I would be curious what thoughts you have on this, thanks.

Now what would the point of trying to prove you wrong be?  You;ve already asserted that you can never be proven wrong..and that if you were, it wouldn;t matter to you.

I;m simply pointing out that -within- the fantasy of your beliefs being remotely accurate....there are still some issues with how you describe it.  Things you say that cannot  be simultaneously true.

You don;t care, but it gives you your life purpose?  These two propositions seem fundamentally at odds.

I can't be proven wrong because even if science solves everything scientifically and rationally that there is no such thing as the supernatural, I could still believe what I do and not be proven wrong.

What things have I said I believe that you think conflict with another? If you truely wish to understand my PoV you will answer this question so it can be discussed.

I don’t think that it was that I wouldn’t support my point, but that while I answered a question, it was off topic, and I didn’t want to go a long ways down a rabbit trail. I don’t think that it is unreasonable to choose what topics I wish to focus on....do you? If I’m thinking of the same thread, I also think I pointed this poster to a similar thread where I did go into more detail about what they wanted.

I think it provides evidence to my observation that people here are not kind.
