The British woman Dawn Sturgess, who were Exposed to Soviet nerve agent Novichoik in Amesbury, UK, has died.
Novichok is a nerve agent designed by the Soviet Union in the 1980s specifically to defeat the lastest NATO advances in chemical warfare detection, protection and exposure treatment. Although there are comparable nerve agents developed by other countries, it is generally thought that no other country has produced or deployed that exact agent, making its use distinctively traceable to Russia.
In March Novachik was used in the UK against former Russian agent Sergei Skripal, sickening him and his daughter. The attack was widely believed to be perpetrated by Russia’s Federal Security Bureau, and given the sensitovoty, authorized by Putin.
The British woman who just died does not appear to have any connection to Russia or foreign influences. She appears to have been a random victim. It is possible she accidentally handled contaminated material leftover from the March attack against Skripal. But the British claim she was never in proximity of the March attack or locations where Russian agents were suspected to have prepared and staged the attack.
It may also be she is an unintended victim of a new attack. Which raise the question of why the attack and who was the intended victim.
I think there is also the possibility the attack had no specific intended victim, but was truly meant to be a random attack to spread fear and sow distrust.
