He seems to have been pretty well-liked and respected. That's more than a lot of people can say when their time comes.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
Apparently it was a Muslim extremist. Once again showing the danger of religion.
Fortunately he did not have access to more dangerous weapons. You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis. Lots of other people might be dead. Muslims extremists don’t have a problem with taking out bystanders to get the target they’re after. Boru

Likely nothing at all. He did what he wanted to do - kill the MP. Do you REALLY think that a gun somehow makes one lose control and shoot people till you run out of ammo or people? If he had a gun it is probably more likely he would have shot Mr Amess - and stopped. Apparently that was his goal. You have zero evidence otherwise. No - what we have here is the usual demonization of guns.
Fact is, though, the murder rate in Britain is lower than it is in the United States. Also, the odds of surviving a knife attack are greater than that of a gun, which does far more damage to a person's body.

The whole " good thing it wasn' t a gun" is a red herring. Life choices and/or public policy decisions is choosing one probability distribution over another. You can own an unsecured handgun in your home: 1) You may kill a hostile intruder who wants to kill you, 2) You may kill a non-hostile thief who simply wishes to steal from you, 3) You may accidentally kill a family member in #1 or #2, 4) A family member may accidentally kill you, 5) A family member, perhaps a child, may kill themselves, etc. |
