I have two go to names this one and bob_shall_prevail but in sites like this I knew you get nicknames that you don't pick. I'd rather be Mooney than Bob. The bob user name is in memory of a deceased friend and the one I have now is my first two initials, maiden name, and year I was born. I am now Rodriguez instead of Mooney and contemplated changing it to MRod but I would never remember that after nearly a decade and a half of using the other two.

Explain it to me like I'm 5 please.

God damn I'm old. You were born the year I graduated from high school.

Dang, must hurt to be that old. (I graduated the year after you.) How'd you make out in your draft lottery?

IIRC, my number was in the 200s. Not that it matters- two years later I joined the US Navy of my own volition. I figured I could learn a trade. Interestingly enough, the mechanic work that I did as a kid qualified me for working in the engine room of a ship. I wanted to go into the nuclear Navy as an electronics tech. I didn't know that I could get a contract and a guarantee of the "A" school of my choice. My mistake/lack of knowledge. :/

BoT, the only things that hurt to any major degree are my feet, now that my hands have been altered by carpal tunnel release surgery. I used to have "plier hands" according to my friends, because I could remove stuff that no one else could. Now, I call them "candy hands" because a I can't do a lot of stuff I used to do, though they are slowly coming back to strength.

Thank you for your service, Fireball.

I was not born in time for Vietnam. I could have served in Gulf War I, but my emotional attachment to Jehovah's Witnesses prevented me from enlisting. I was a confused teenager. If I had it to do over again, I would, but that's easy to say 30 years later.

I applaud you and thank you for my freedom.
