She always struck me as fond of both you and the Tibster. She only mentioned the repetiveness and the inability to have a discussion where anyone risks anything because they are immediately put on the defensive. And to be fair I was the one who brought it up in discussing my own ambivalence about that aspect of this place. I don't think we're any worse than the population as a whole, and I definitely prefer us to self righteous religious schmucks who think they're on the good side even as they act like complete alpha-males assholes.
I'd be surprised if it had anything to do with me. We disagree on a lot of things, but, for my part, I've always thought we get along. We're still friends on the old book of faces.
When I'm annoyed at theists here, it's not run of the mill believers. For me, I understand the need to soften the edges of the world, get a deity on your side, feel in control or like you can hand your problems off to a greater being. I can empathize, if not sympathize. The people that annoy me are holier-than-thou fucking assholes who use their religion to themselves on a pedestal while shaming others. Fuck those people. I don't argue religion with them. I argue humanity.

I'll agree that it is a viscous cycle. But as the forum name implies, what do theists think they're going to encounter when they get here. Honestly, this place is way more forgiving to theists than any religious site is to atheists. With most religious forums, if you're an atheist, you are given a different set of rules to comply by and that includes barely being able to debate or really speak your mind against their viewpoints. Take a look at how patient this place is. CDF's thread alone, has gathered up a massive 500+ pages and he's still insisting he's right. That sort of stuff gets old and boring and it's no longer a debate when the opposing party doesn't even consider any other reasoning besides "god makes it, so it must be so!"

This is very true. While we may be crass and rude we still let you talk. Religious forums are the best at hitting that ban button the moment you open your mouth in question.

Shiachat.com is an exception to this. It allowed Atheists to say whatever they please and even allowed me to post 28 problems I had with Quran.
This site is good, but shiachat.com, people were very respectful to Atheists, and even me, while I was an apostate, most stayed very compassionate and respectful.
I know the same is not true of Christian sites in general nor Sunni.
But Shiachat.com has impressed me even though I am no longer a member there, and it's dying out slowly, it was an awesome experience, and I talked to all sorts of people there.
They are intolerant to one people though - Shia hating Wahabis. And I don't blame them in that regard. They don't let them post non-sense propaganda and lies to stir the pot.

Sorry, but the pity party got old, especially the last one (that went something like "people with babies shouldn't talk about it around me"). While I feel for her, I don't need to hear the fishing for pity. How many times do we have to say "there there"?

I was referring to him saying he understands because he can't and won't ever. He can sympathize but he can't understand.
I was in her position of not being able to conceive for a few years but I can't even fathom losing Charlie when I was 6 months pregnant with her. Once I had her I was out of CL's pain so I don't understand either. I can think about it and I know how I think I would feel but I don't actually know. I did feel guilty for awhile for showing off my daughter around CL and I'm pretty sure she unfollowed me on Facebook but I agree with you on that we can't walk on eggshells forever. My comment wasn't about that, it was 100% about him saying he understands people and still dislikes them as if he understood her problem or that it mattered.
