That's interesting to hear because the perception in Europe is very different. America is more likely to be viewed as imperialistic. The motivation for the European Union isn't just to stop another European war but to give us clout to resist American standards. A huge fear about Brexit for example is that a trade deal with America will see much lower standards in food, farming and health care.

I think if Brexit proves anything it's that Britain will never become the 51st state of America. Look at how the country is on course to destroy itself as a backlash against being part of a union that actually benefits us and gives us loads of preferable treatment.

Anyway. I live in Scotland. We're more likely to claim independence and rejoin the EU. Northern Ireland will unify with Ireland and that just leaves England and Wales. Give it a few years for the baby boomers to die out and they'll be asking to be let back into the EU because the younger generation voted to remain by a large margin.

Such a move would be deeply unpopular with the electorate. It's part of what brought down Blair after all.

I think Neil is missing the point that the "Space Force" the orange turd wants isn't anything pragmatic but a vanity project. And it is nothing more to Trump to justify another arms race to make the global weapons industry richer.

We don't need a space force. We need better funding for NASA and our already existing intel agencies. 

Trump stupidly pictures a "Space Force" like storm troopers in Star Wars.

This, though, is a good thing. Guide Trump to "vanity projects" that we actually want. Tell him if he can create a unique Space Force, he'll be remembered as the greatest president, ever. We'll have one within the year.
