Granted, the drivers are the main downside for Linux, but the generic ones often do the trick. That, and some nice software companies have Linux drivers for hardware. Of course, this is the problem when your OS doesn't have the large market share.
That said, I have a new laptop that installed Linux perfectly with everything working, so I doubt the problem occurs as much these days. Generic drivers FTW

You two do realise that you're arguing over subjective opinions based on different sets of experiences and therefore the chances of you both agreeing over this is approximately 0?

True.
Some other things Kyu has said is complete bull though, hence the debate.

I disagree but if so so are some of things you've said ... if, what with referring back to DOS & FAT32, you guys were theists, I'd say you were being disingenuous.
And for the record I think I am guilty of less bull than you on this subject because, as I again stress, I have repeatedly made it clear that I do like Linux and I DO NOT think any of the various OS's are inherently superior ... Windows is by far the easiest to use (and let's get this fucking straight Adrian ... for an ORDINARY user)!

In your opinion. I'd disagree. People tend to like the OS they grow up with. It just so happens that most people grew up with Windows. My favourite lecturer's children both use Linux, so the "ordinary user" really just depends on your history.
I like Windows too, I use it often when I want to play games. I think that given the chance, people can easily learn Linux, especially with Ubuntu on the table.
Oh, and the only reason I referred back to FAT32 (I didn't refer to DOS btw) is because my girlfriend was defragging her Windows XP computer (which isn't that old) and it was using a FAT32 filesystem. I was surprised that up till a few years ago, Microsoft was apparently still installing Windows on such an outdated filesystem.

Very true and I assume that is my main reason for not being able to migrate (because I cannot do ion Linux what I can do on Windows).

Regardless it is STILL ancient history!

What a surprise ... not! Actually, now that you mention it I have been noticing a rise in games for Linux these days. That and WINE often lets you play games on Linux without the need to switch.

Yeah ... but not real "gamers" games. Truth is the best way of playing games these days is on a Microsoft xBox ... oops, I mean console (LOL)

Consoles suck. I have yet to find a console that has a proper aiming mechanism.

What do you mean Leo? Is this a criticism of the gaming pad controllers which, I absolute agree, suck (hence why I am buying a joystick for my xBox in order to play HAWX)?
