I wonder if during this time of fear, worry and anxiety, people might turn to Christianity in droves.
As in, they might dust off their bible and search for answers in it. Maybe they will cry out to God their father and beg Jesus to save them from the plague...
I hope that is the case..
What do you think? will people flock to Christ in this time of doubt?
You want fear to be their basis for belief?
That's very fucked up, but then, fear has always been a part of any theist belief.

Or maybe Christians invent a new god because of the crisis, just like Jews invented Jesus after the temple in Jerusalem fell.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I think it may result in fence-sitters either deepening their convictions or letting go of the idea of an omniscient God. It's a comfort to some in a time of crisis to trust in God to take care of you. I can't say I hope people do or don't, as it's not my business. I do hope that everyone finds comfort in whatever way they can.

If you look at the Iranian outbreak it began in Qom and spread amongst pilgrims.
Italy is also well known for religious sites, it may be that the religious may the worst hit. Far from pulling numbers up the virus might literally be religion's death knell. 6 priests die and 20 hospitalised in Bergamo 60 Nuns positive for Covid 19 in two convents Churches unlikely to survive Covid 19 Quote:I don't understand why you'd come to a discussion forum, and then proceed to reap from visibility any voice that disagrees with you. I had a preacher tell me that he could prove God was watching out for me. He got permission to go on a ride. Came back in a body bag. Proof of a kind.

Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
Why would you hope that? Hope for something more useful.
